When she had finished the morning-drama with Sabine, Lyseil had been notified of a package from home. Seemed like her family had sent her an upgrade of armor, and inspecting the white and green light armor, she could tell it provided more defense than the reinforced uniform. Sure, it wasn't as nice looking as the uniform, but this one might help save her life a bit more.

On closer inspection, she saw it also came with a visor, installed with enhanced optics. "Hmm..." She went through a bit more of the detailing on the exact specs of the armor and optics, eventually figuring out that it could be upgraded to be more in sync with the wearer's senses. "Well, let's do this then!"

Packing the thing back in its box, Lyseil carried it with her as she headed to the Flight Deck to start looking around for the grease-monkeys that tended to populate this place.

There was a lot of activity on the flight deck today. Spitfires and various mercenary craft were being prepped for defensive maneuvers and the operation. Lots of machinery sounds and raised voices echoed through the large space.

"Look, all's I'm saying Jenkins is that my left arm welds a better seal than you. No, my real left arm. Yeah, let that sink in a minute." There was a pause and then some barking laughter. "Nah man, I'm just shitting you. You actually did a job that didn't suck!"

Spotting Lyseil, Rav clapped the shocked junior tech on the back and walked over. His coveralls were already oily and he hadn't bothered to put fake skin and fur on the new arm. The chrome was easy to spot.

"Sergeant Panteer, nice to see ya. Whatcha doing slumming it on the flight deck?" He flashed her a toothy grin.

Chrome seems to be the new 'in' these days, Lyseil thought briefly as she spotted the cyber-arm.

"Specialist Devaroo," she greeted chipperly, then looked around herself a few seconds before looking back to the Shistavanen. "I didn't realise this was the slums. I should've turned left at Corellia then!" Ok that one didn't work as well... With some awkwardness, the woman cleared her throat. "Have a tuning job for you, if you have the time?"

Remembering she was one of those posh Alderaanian nobles Rav decided to hold back on the jokes. He just nodded. "Right then. Sure do Sergeant. Jenkins here finally worked out how to use a welding torch after all this time."

Rav pointed over to a quieter part of the flight deck. "I've got my tools at up over there. Let's walk over and you can tell me about this job."

"Well, those welding torches can be tricky! I think I messed up quite a few times with one myself the first go," she chuckled with a cheerful tone and followed his lead, walking to a more quieter part of the flight deck.

"Thank you... it, should be a fairly easy job, I think, but I've never been too solid on this kind of stuff. My armor came with an Enhanced Optics Suite, you know the kind that picks up more details in the nearby vicinity and feeds it to a visor or eyepiece to bypass obstacles like darkness or smoke, to warn of possible dangers? I was hoping to improve it!" Judging from the box she carried, the armor probably wasn't terribly heavy.

"Yeah, but you can't go around telling 'em that." Rav chuckled as they walked. "Takes a while to get it right."

He gave an appreciative whisle at her armour. It was too of the line stuff, no mistaking. Then again, she was some sort of Royalty, so that probably meant a certain appearance to keep up.

"Nice piece of kit ya got there. Hmm, been a while since I've done any optics. Just picked up some Hunter's goggles though so I've got a few ideas of where to begin."

His newly repaired and enhanced armour was right next to the workbench. The mechanical arm had been tuned up and he started to put the armour on.

"You wanna help? Might be useful if it ever gets damaged."

The armor was quite sleek indeed. More like an armoured suit than something heavy and bulky, allowing for good maneuverability and with built in resistance to exposure to dangerous temperatures. In truth, it was a standard for House Panteer Forces, particularly for those in recon, but it was also popular for when going into territories with forest fires due to its construction against heat.

"Help?" she was surprised at first. "Yes-yes, sure! I might pick up a few tricks working alongside an expert, right?" It was probably odd to see someone like her seem excited about helping out. "We can't rely on the assistance of talents like yourself all the time, after all."

"Yeah, it's more for your own benefit Sergeant. I'll tell you what tools I need, just follow along." He pulled on his goggles and set the optics suite and the helmet on his work bench.

"Okay, let's tune this up. Pass me the type 6. No. That one. Yeah, that's it. Man, my left arm gets real itchy these days. Hope I don't make this thing turn out blurry instead... Hah, just kidding. It'll be fine."

Under Rav's expert care it was indeed fine.

Lyseil thought she had a good understanding of tools. Until she realised the tools she used in her work and the tools Rav used in his weren't quite the same. Still, she was a smart cookie and learned fast!

"Your left arm feels itchy?" she raised an eyebrow, though with an amused smile. "What happened to your arm, by the way? Last time I saw you you were all shiny and chome."

He kept her right through the modification process giving her an insight into how his engineer's mind worked. The question resulted in a shrug.

"You didn't hear? Couple of us went in and took down Eralynn Varad. Not before she collected a few souvenirs though. I heard Tethys duelled her at the end. It's all a bit blurry though. You lose an arm and get pumped full of drugs, kinda hard to remember all the details, heh."

Fascinating! Was mostly Lyseil's thought to watching and learning from a master at work. Hacha was skilled, but he didn't try to educate like Rav did.

"Oh... right. I had heard you were instrumental to Operation Defiant Nexu, but... I hadn't heard of your injuries. Seems like you were quite a hero that day!"

"Eh, well, really I just took a bunch of hits so others didn't. Us field engineers gotta take the punishment." He tapped the chrome. "Never expected to end up with one of these, but I guess I'll see if I can get one of those shiny upgraded cyberlimbs I keep hearing about. One day."

He laughed and looked at her armour. "Alright, this is good to go. You wanna try it on and see what it can do?"

Lyseil personally hoped she'd never have to have a cyberlimb. It just felt so... alien. To not have your own limb. At least the wolf-man seemed to take it in good stride. "You field engineers have done an incredible job so far this campaign. Making us all mighty proud, as the Commander would say," she chuckled.

"Sure, let's take it for a spin!"

It wasn't too difficult to start putting it on, as it had been designed for ease that way. "So what brought you along for the ride here to Bankor, if I may ask? Most of the forces seem to be volunteers, after all."

Rav gave a low chuckle. "Yeah, well. Us field engineers usually get the blame if things go wrong too, so it's nice we've all pulled together on this campaign an' things are going our way." He absently opened and closed the mechanical hand.

As Lyseil tried on the helmet his thoughts drifted back to his squad on Balmorra. Fragments of memories that left a bitter taste in his mouth. Or maybe that was just where he'd licked his fur and gotten a tongue full of oily grease.

"What brought me here? Well, I had a score to settle with those Kryze assholes and the skills to start fixing what they've done to this place." He shrugged. "Seemed like the thing to do. What about you?"

"Yeah? It does seem like lots of people have come together for a greater good here. Me, I handle a lot of the paperwork, so I can relate to getting the blame when things aren't running smoothly or there's mess in the system," she gave an understanding nod.

"Oh, me? Hm, more that I'm representing Alderaan's support for Bankor, as a fellow Republic world. Though I hope that I can push some incentive back home after all this is over to help the people here rebuild..."7

Her slender but toughened fingers activated the optics, and she right away became much more aware of her surroundings as information were being fed into the visor.

"Ugh, paperwork. I'll stick to bomb disposal thanks." His eyes rolled comically in sympathy before watching her getting started with the upgraded equipment.

"Might take a few moments to adjust to all that new info. You'll get used to it though. I've been a lot of places but never made it to Alderaan. Maybe one day. What's it like?"

She did laugh at that joke. "I'll remember that."

"Hmmm..." Lyseil did adapt quickly to the new optics. "I can get used to this."

She did look at the wolf man with interest. "Never been to Alderaan? Well then! I highly recommend it; there's a reason it's called the Jewel of the Core worlds as you'll rarely see a place where the nature has been preserved so well alongside the expansion of cities and settlements."
