[Niall Organa]

Niall wasn't up quite as bright and early as usual. Not that the phrase had much meaning in space. Still, he managed to go through his usual routine of cleaning, dressing, and all the other little things that were part of waking up. Of which there were many; it was important that Captain Alderaan look fresh for the troops, after all.

And so, it was a little later than usual when Niall found his way to the mess hall. Breakfast acquired, after a moment's consideration, he sat at one of the empty tables near the side. He began to eat slowly, more like how he would on leave rather than on deployment.

[Azura Mora]

"Huh, you're all alone? I thought you'd have a whole fanclub around you" came the voice of a certain girl, as Azura unceremoniously sat down opposite Organa, placing her tray down a little more gently than she sat down. She was still i her armour and armed though, as she always was.

Niall's grey eyes flickered up as Azura sat down rather heavily across from him. Despite himself, he smiled, just a little.

"Oh?" He said, sitting up. His arms crossed in front of his chest, briefly covering the insignia and medals on the front of his uniform. "I gave them the day off. War's hard on everyone, after all." He said, deadpan.

After a moment, he inclined his head. "I trust you've been well, Azura?"

[Chase]

Chase came sliding down in the seat beside Azura, tray down in front of her and looked between the two quickly, "Hey, you're two faces I've not seen in a bit. Captain," Chase acknowledged and offered a perfunctory salute. "Good to see you're both survivin' and all," Chase said as she moved her utensils to the side in a precise manner.

"I'm uh.." she glanced between the two once again, "not interrupting anything am I?"

[Azura Mora]

Niall's grey eyes flickered up as Azura sat down rather heavily across from him. Despite himself, he smiled, just a little.

"Oh?" He said, sitting up. His arms crossed in front of his chest, briefly covering the insignia and medals on the front of his uniform. "I gave them the day off. War's hard on everyone, after all." He said, deadpan.

After a moment, he inclined his head. "I trust you've been well, Azura?"

"Oh yeah. Being shot at, having my arm almost broken by an axe, almost eaten by a sand demon and shooting dangerous ships out of the sky for a republic who treat me like a criminal" Azura shrugged "you know, the usual" she added, taking a mouthful of food as Chase slid in next to her. She gave the woman a look as she finished her mouthful, adding in a dry tone "yeah, we're on a date."

She turned back to the captain, adding "I assume you're doing ok? Everything all sunshine and rainbows at the top?"

"Lieutenant." Niall nodded. His return salute was even more casual; a vague wave near the forehead. His mouth opened to offer an explanation, but Azura beat him to it. Again, he chuckled, shooting Azura an amused glance. "Please join us, Lieutenant. And glad to see you're still with us. I heard about your actions yesterday." He gave her a nod.

He looked back to Azura, hesitating conspicuously before giving her a nod. "Oh, yes. All goes well." He didn't know Azura well enough to display his problems in front of her, and he practically had a duty not to in front of Chase. His glance on Azura sharpened. "What's this about you being treated like criminals, though? If this is about the senator, I wouldn't worry."

He pushed some of his food around his plate.

[Chase]

"Wouldn't worry because why? They're being treated like criminals because they committed a crime against the Republic and the Resistance? Seems about right to me," Chase slid her drink into place on the right side of her assortment.

[Niall Organa]

Niall turned to look at Chase, one eyebrow going up. "It rather sounds as though you have part of the story, but not the whole one, Lieutenant." His tone was even as he spoke.

Shooting a quick glance at his more volatile breakfast companion, Niall went on. "It's not entirely my place to give you the rest. Although with Azura's permission, I will. What I can say is that Jax and Azura have been doing their part to make amends for what happened. I think everyone deserves a second chance." He sighed. "Even if not everyone gets one."

[Rav Devaroo]

There was a small kerfuffle as a large wolfman cursed the kaff machine, turned it on and off again, unplugged it, plugged it back in, and finally hit it a few times before pouring a huge cup for himself. Balancing a tray of what appeared to be mostly meat he approached the table in slightly stained overalls.

"Hey. Room for one more?" If he was aware of the slight tension in the air he ignored it like a champ. "That all you eat Cap? Sheesh. How's yer buddy doin' L-T?" He gave a friendly, toothy smile and started munching some steak and washing it down with kaff.

"You mean like being cut off from all resource over what turned out to be a corrupt Republic person? Yeah, shitty treatment" Azura frowned "and that senator is gonna get what she deserves."

She peered at Chase and added "and you can piss off as well" it was clear she wasn't in a good mood anymore. Then Rav joined in.

"Ugh, sure whatever. If you're gonna take a pop at me as well though I'm gonna cut your ears off."

[Chase]

"People like Vando Nee don't deserve a second chance, but you're not as bad as Vando Nee, not yet no," Chase said glancing at Azura but turning her attention toward Niall. Quickly, briefly, glancing and nodding a greeting toward Rav but ultimately returning to Niall. "So, since miss angry over here doesn't feel like talking how 'bout you tell me how their situation gets better?"

"Unless you're gonna tell me there's something more to taking something from the Republic, bound for the resistance, and trying to sell it for a few spare credits?"

"Yep, you ain't got a clue. But you don't really look that important or worth being told everything to" Azura shrugged "your guys were corrupt. We got you info, then you fucked up and she got away. Shame you're so incompetent, but it matches your piloting I guess."

[Chase]

Chase didn't look away from Niall, but said, "I'm gonna do you a favor and forget everything you just said."

Niall flashed Rav a quick smile. "Not everyone can do steak and kaff for breakfast. It's enough for me." He nodded. "Good to see you again, Rav."

The shower and food had helped with the hangover. Now, with Azura and Chase fighting, he felt it threaten to return. Niall reached up, briefly pressing his face into his hands. "Azura..." He sighed. "This isn't the first time I've stuck my neck out for you. Consider your responsibility in your current situation."

He sighed, looking to Chase. "The Senator says that they only agreed to help us when they were going to be caught. This was not the case. We wouldn't have enough information for arrests for some time yet." He shook his head. "No, I went to Jax, and I appealed to him on the basis of who his rest of the group had hurt. He hadn't known about that. But once he did, he was willing to work with me."

Niall took a breath. "In my estimation, it was decency, not fear, that brought him over. And that's why I think they deserve a second chance."

[Azura Mora]

"You put your neck out for me" Azura scoffed "I'm literally covered in wounds putting my neck out for you and your Republic, who've treated me like crap. And you" Azura looked back at Chase "guess they call you Chase because you can't actually catch anything, only chase after it."

She pushed her food away, looking back at Niall.

"Jax is a good man. Better than you'll ever be."

[Chase]

"Doesn't exactly explain what they thought they were doing, just sounds like they coulda given you a damn story," Chase said, her voice raised slightly. Resting her arm against the table as Azura spoke. "You say they didn't come forward until they were about to be caught, and then you tell me that they only changed their minds on what was right after you approached 'em. Sounds a lot to me like they came in from the dark because they were about to be caught there."

"From the sounds of fightey over here, she's a kid playing at the big leagues. Doesn't know right to know what she's gone and getting herself into."

Chase shrugged, "Maybe I'm wrong though, but hey, no one seems to be doing themselves any favors here."

"Chase..." Niall sighed, rubbing his forehead with one hand. "As one officer to another, I ask that you trust my judgement. I was there. I made the call. Don't second-guess the person who was in the field."

He turned, sort of, to Azura, still rubbing his forehead. "Azura..." He sighed again. "No one is underestimating the good you've done. I thank you for that. At the same time, I hope you recognized that you helped to cause some harm, and some people respond to that." He sighed again. "And it's largely on my estimation of Jax, and his of you, that I helped you." His lips quirked. "And because I felt it was unfair to judge someone without understanding them better."

"Now." He said firmly, straightening. "Can I ask the two of you to be civil for the course of one breakfast? Otherwise I'm going to ask you to find other tables. And I can enjoy a nice conversation with Rav, thank you very much."

[Chase]

Chase offered a perfunctory salute, "Cap," quickly gathered her things and made for another table elsewhere.

"Hmph."

Azura rolled her eyes. She went to say something before Chase left, at which point she just smirked and said "I'm fine. Just want to enjoy food without things buttin' in."

[Niall Organa]

"Lieutenant." Niall said, his voice firm. Commanding. Gravely, he returned her salute. "We'll speak later."

With a sigh, and a smile of apology to Rav, Niall turned back to his food, firmly eating a few bites. Finally he relented somewhat, glancing up at Azura. "I do happen to think Jax is a good man." He said, his voice soft. "How did the two of you come to be travelling together? If you don't mind my asking."

"Steak fer breakfast is what keeps those Spitfires runnin' Cap. Breakfast of champions." He slurped back some coffee and gave Azura a bemused look. "Last crazy lady wanted somethin' of mine it was my teeth." He flashed a toothy grin. "She took an arm instead. So I'm inclined to just shoot first. Enjoy having Jenkins work on your ship."

He winked at Chase and took another big swig of kaff before calling up the work schedule on his datapad and assigning Jenkins to a full servicing of the Midnight. As the ladies settled down he went for another mug of the good stuff and came back to find they were down a breakfaster. There seemed to be a story on its way so he turned to look at Azura and wiggled his ears at her.

"No idea who Jenkins is but he's not welcome on Midnight" Azura said with a huff, having some food before looking to Niall.

"I snuck onto his ship. He caught me, and we made a deal to pay off the debts. Was about five or six years ago, paid off the debt entirely now but we work well together, so I stayed on. Nothing special."

[Rav Devaroo]

"Heh he ain't welcome most places, but you're shit outta luck now. Hope you weren't planning to get anywhere in a hurry." He shrugged and took another gulp of kaff.

"Anyway, it's good to see ya Cap."

Niall laughed softly. "It's good to see you again, too."

He gave the wolfman a nod. "I heard about the battle with Eralynn. Well done. Very well done indeed." His lips pressed together. "How's the arm? Looks like it's doing well for you."

He raised one eyebrow, looking at Azura. "The partnership lasted five or six years. Sounds special enough to me."

"It's ok. Someone needs to tell Jax when he's an idiot and keep him alive, and I'm qualified to do both quite well. So it works. Didn't need anyone else, even if he does forget that from time to time."
