Luminous Beings (Tethys's Thread of Mystery!)

... not actually that mysterious? However, if you want to ask stuff about her and I have an answer, I'll probably give it. :)

I'll get round to other people's Q&As bit by bit as I wrap up live threads--I have a bit of difficulty keeping the thread of conversation with somebody IC while also asking stuff about them OOC.

Are you going to bring Tethys back?

I enjoyed reading her Threads and hope Ashla and her can meet in the future one day (besides just the big meeting Threads).

Any desires that weren't met this game? :)

Thanks! I hope so too. Ashla was one of the Jedi I enjoyed reading but sadly never got to really interact with.

For some unknown reason, I'm always sort of superstitious about saying "yes, definitely" to that question. But probably? I've really enjoyed playing her, and she has room to grow to fill out the social side of the classic Consular skillset, so a change of scene to, say, Alderaan wouldn't leave her feeling out of place.

Not really? I got to fwoom fwoom things with a lightsaber and be all mysterious and convinced of my own rightness. That's really what I look for in a Jedi. I slightly would have liked to talk to the Resistance leaders more, but I never quite got around to it on the OOC side, so that's on me.

In a game that's not a war, it might be interesting to have Tethys poke around about the mystery of her birth parents, but she was much too busy for that here. Orphan-bonding with all the other parentless young adults gave enough mileage to that bit of backstory for now.

Not many questions, really, so...

Tethys was really enjoyable to watch. Almost every time I read one of her scenes, I was thinking "Yes! That's how a Jedi is supposed to be!". I felt you very well managed to capture that feel of the Jedi in Tethys, while also being very human (as it's so easy to fall into the pit-trap of making jedi too shut off). She was a real pleasure for the audience. :D

I'm bad at questions!

I had a lot of fun poking tethys with Z. And her reaction to being called cute made me laugh. So once again, thanks for all the threads.

Ahh, thank you! I worried occasionally that "the Jedi-ish Jedi" would come off as too generic, even though from my side of the screen there was certainly more to her, so I'm really happy to hear it worked for you. I did have a lot of fun experimenting with how my understanding of Jedi stuff should map onto a character from the actual golden age of Jedi training, who was also still quite young.

Agreed, they were really fun/funny to bounce off one another. A very odd couple of crusaders indeed. And I think Zane might actually have been the only one besides Eralynn to really kind of rattle her.

To go off of this, Tethys was the perfect rival for Eralynn. Not too passive but also not giving the Mandalorian any slack. In the Star Wars sense, they also had nice banter, like Grievous and Kenobi.

I greatly enjoyed Tethys, though sorry we didn't interact much.

Any future chance of Soulful Abs? :D

Aw, thank you! They were very fun, and took her into some unexpected areas. The earlier ones definitely contributed to defining the character.

Agreed about the banter! I really enjoyed being mad at Eralynn. And rudely hanging up on her. I found out several interesting things about Tethys that way that may not have come out otherwise (including that she didn't have it in her to Kylo Ren a comm console...) and the whole arc was extremely satisfying.

More next time!

Chances of a Soulful Abs reappearance really depend on Dapper. :P Tethys never explicitly figured out he was a Sith, though his disappearing under mysterious circumstances at more or less the same time as Zash (albeit coincidentally, but she doesn't know that) would be suggestive. If he reappeared she'd certainly continue to be curious/suspicious about him. Still much, much likelier to end in lightsabers rather than prom dates, but I found their interactions interesting and would definitely jump at more.

Maybe she could find a witch to curse his soul back into his body so he has to become a light-sider... oh wait, wrong canon.

Thanks for the epic save in the Eralynn fight Tethys :)

I enjoyed reading her stuff, especially the dark side atonement and interactions with Eralynn. I thought she was a great example of what I would expect of a Jedi but rarely see, she actually reminded me of my old Jedi Investigator PC from the days wen I used to play Living Force :P

What were your favourite scenes?

*waves* Thank you for the scene and partially deciphering the Jedi-myth for Teffa but I think she'll still find them strange at the end of the day.

You're so welcome! Thank you for being mad enough to tackle her in inimitable wolfman style. And also thank you to Nekoinu for not just having Aaroth and Evilynn tag-team murder me and steal all our teeth after Sabine went down, because I'm pretty sure they could have. :P

Favorite scenes... I had such a lot of great ones (to me, at least) that it's hard to narrow down. All the confrontations with Eralynn and her minions, definitely--the conversation in the booby-trapped building and the final end to the chase are probably the best of those. Grappling with the dark side was a definite high point. Every time Tethys danced with and/or was awkwardly flirted at by optimistic gentlemen was deeply entertaining. And popping triumphs on fear checks and getting to be all light-side-steely in the Eralynn fight and Dark Exodus was very satisfying character-development-wise.

I'm probably forgetting something else I enjoyed at least as much. :?

*stately wave back* Thank you! Perhaps we'll meet again and continue to confuse each other. ;)

Also, being confused by Jedi is entirely legitimate, so. I think I probably bewildered people slightly less than when playing a Togashi in L5R, but they're in the same league.

Thanks for the threads. Wished we could have chatted more.

So what goals did Tethys have if any? Motivators?

Thoughts on the other Jedi? Or any other people of note?
