That calmed him down at least. He looked across at Sara.

"Okay. Let's say I believe ya. Tell me about Yancy."

“I had higher hopes than was warranted for Yancy. Your easy deception and his lack of competence in seeing it meant that he had no more value to the Clever Man. Unfortunate but true, the Clever Man values his privacy. He values results, this campaign began long before he arrived on the scene and it may last long after him, we cannot afford to be sloppy. You have my condolences on your loss, but in the end, he was corrupt and foolish,” she said in response.

Sara looked at Rav and then back to the woman and said, “Still you killed him, what’s to say you won’t do the same to us, just because we fail to live up to your standards?”

“I expect you are a higher caliber asset than Yancy could ever dream to be,” she said with a small smile.

Greis remained quiet at the door looking for any ambushes, if he had a thought his helmet masked it.

"Sure. Humour me. When did you sign him up? Before or after Balmorra. I'm still fuzzy on how he got out of that shitstorm, and what it was all about in the first place. We lost good people back there."

As they spoke Rav was narrowing down the list of potential explosives and cross referencing with the ones he had experience of shutting down remotely. He figured this was one of those 'work for us or die' scenarios.

“After Balmorra, he sought some petty form of vengeance and directed it at the wrong individuals. We rectified it and then recruited him,” she responded.

"Sounds like Ol' Yance." He looked across at Sara and then back at the holo image. "Last question. You got a plan that doesn't involve millions or billions of ordinary folks getting killed along the way?"

“We do have a plan, it will require some conflict, some will die, it will save trillions more in the coming ages of the galaxy. Sacrifice a bushel to save the orchard, as they say,” she said honestly.

"You'll forgive me if I tell ya my instincts say you're probably hiding somethin' pretty fucking important from us. But give me a sec will ya?" He held up a finger and turned to look at Sara. "This shit's way above my pay grade Sarge. Thoughts?"

“I don’t know… I don’t trust her, but then again I don’t trust that this situation will just go away because we say no,” she said honestly.

Maybe, just maybe, it would prove important to be on the inside of this. Rav knew he had lost bits of himself back on Balmorra. Friends. Memories. Pieces of his personality that weren't coming back. Now he'd given an arm for the folks on Bankor, but at least he'd gotten Sara back, and made some new friends along the way perhaps. Maybe it was time to stop living on borrowed time.

He didn't have to trust this new faction to see they were right about a few things, although that was tempered by the exchange he and Zanebry had a few days before. After a minute of rumination his eyes met the holo image.

"Alright, let's say we're interested. What happens next?"

“Then complete your mission, defeat these Mandalorians, the Clever Man will be in touch once Vantage Core Station is in Republic Hands. In the cargo hold there is a case labeled X54-Q2, inside is a piece of equipment the Clever Man would like installed on the station. If you wish to prove your loyalty, install this on the station into the communications hub,” the woman replied.

“Do this and the Clever Man will reward you.”

Rav thought about it for a full thirty seconds before eventually nodding. "Alright. Let's see where this goes." He looked at Sara and back at Gries. "If we're in we're all in this together. You guys okay?"

Greis nodded, "Yeah whatever works."

Sara agreed, "Yeah, we are in."

"Okay then, done. Now don't blow us up... What was your name again?"
