[Nekoinu]

On the approach to the base camp, a group of Mandalorians of a few different clans were in a standoff with Resistance fighters. Two men of Clan Kelborn stood over an unconscious man wearing the armor of Clan Kryze. His helmet was stripped already from him, showing his face beaten and bruised by the Kelborn batons.

Only the Resistance members had their blasters drawn, though a man from Clan Itera seemed ready to draw at any moment. Republic personnel were flying past them, in a rush to secure the base, leaving this encounter to happenstance...

[Nai'tiri Cadera]

The encounter didn't go unnoticed for Nai, and she slipped off her helmet as she approached. For now, her weapons remained out of her hands, but well... she was still armed for war. The pale gray cape-like banner hanging from one shoulder proudly showed the symbol of Clan Cadera.

"What's this?" she asked, raising her usual quiet voice.

[Niall Organa]

Niall had been moving towards the base, but it was a commander's job to keep an eye on just this sort of developing situation. He slowed his ongoing rush, his eyes narrowing.

He approached the group, Republic uniform, awards and all on clear display. Carefully, he replaced his pistol in its holster. "Stand down." He said, his voice deep and stern. He nodded to the Mandalorian Chiss, his expression serious, giving her question his support.

[Nekoinu]

"You honor us with your presence, warrior of Cadera." The Mandalorian appeared to have no sign of distress in his voice.

"More of you Mandos?" The teen leveled his rifle with quivering hands at the newcomer Chiss. "Not another step!"

If Nai'tiri rolls, she'll gain a Bonus Die for Coercion but a Setback for any other roll. You may assist one another but know that both groups will respond differently based on who takes lead/if you do assist each other.

"Lower that rifle, soldier." Niall's voice was firm, but not harsh. He looked back and forth between the two groups. "The Mandalorians are here to help. Just like the Republic is here to help. And just like you're here to fight. But you're here to fight the enemy, not us." He gave him a nod. "I like that fighting spirit, but I want you to save it for the enemy, got it?"

He inclined his head. "Captain Niall Organa, Republic military. Now, someone tell me what the situation is, here."

"You honor me, brothers," she gave a firm nod of respect to the Mandalorians.

"As the Captain says, we are here to fight alongside the Republic and the people of Bankor." The red eyes fixed on the Kryze before them, a mix of pity and disgust.

[Nekoinu]

"I never enlisted in your army, Captain whatever!"

An older Resistance member stepped up and made no effort to lower his men's weapons. At the very least, though, they did not open fire. Yet. "In other words, we are not under your command, Captain Organa. These brutes assaulted one of our men."

"Chakaar!" a Kelborn shouted.

"You'll speak Basic when you're with us!" the young one screamed. His rifle turned back to the Kelborn.

"Big threats from little man..."

[Nai'tiri Cadera]

Nai raised an eyebrow. Was the Kryze 'one of their men' and had been knocked out by her fellow Crusaders? This seemed like a bit of a tricky situation.

She gestured to the beat up Kryze on the ground. "He the assaulted one?" she asked, looking at the twitchy resistance fighters.

Niall turned his grey eyes on the Chiss. It seemed like she was as interested in keeping things under control as he was. He gave her a minute nod, his eyes flickering towards the Mandalorians. Hopefully she'd get the message.

He turned towards the older Resistance member. "That's true. You're not. My guess is they're under yours." He gave the man a respectful nod. "And I'd also guess you'd know just how tense things in situations like this. Now, you know my name and rank. I'd like to know yours." Niall's tone was even as he spoke.

[Nekoinu]

"Markus. No title. I'm just a man trying to keep my people alive." He adjusted his belt to accomodate his beer belly. "The man on the floor there is Jano. Used to watch over my kids before... all this."

One of the Kelborn looked down at the unconscious man.. "Tragedy or not, he disrepsected us. All of them did."

[Nai'tiri Cadera]

The red Chiss-eyes didn't seem to express much when they met Niall's, but she seemed to understand his meaning.

"..." Nai'tiri crossed her arms, her posture relaxed, even if her face was not. It was making sense now, connecting with the slur she had heard earlier. "Someone who stole Kryze-armor then?" There was noticeable tension in her tone. "I understand."

"Captain. Markus." She tersely jerked her head to indicate the unconscious thief again. "The chakaar here has done an inexcusable offense to the Mando'ade."

Niall's brows drew down. "That man?" He nodded towards the unconscious man on the ground. Why would a Mandalorian have been watching over this man's kids?

But of course. He was no Mandalorian. That wasn't his armor.

He turned to the Mandalorians, blue-skinned and otherwise, his expression serious. "They don't know what this means to you. Please. Allow us the chance to make this right." He turned back to Markus. "Markus. Taking a Mandalorian's armor is like desecrating their dead. There's not much worse than can be done. We need to give it back. And then get Jano to a medic."

[Nekoinu]

Markus spat on the dirt. "I couldn't care less about their culture! They are nothing but barbarians!"

"Not a challenge, but I do enjoy settling a score," the Itera muttered. His hand left his holster and went to the pommel of his blade. "Could make it more fair for a fatass."

"What's going to happen, Captain, is you're going to take your Mando dogs and keep them in line."

Assuming you side with the Mandalorians, One of you may make a Negotiation (Presence) Check at Hard Difficulty with Two Dice Upgraded and One Setback Die. Alternatively, you may do Coercion at Hard Difficulty with One Die Upgraded. For the latter, you may gain two Boost Dice if you draw your weapons.

Nai usually had a cool head, but these guys were overstepping it.

In one swift motion, the ritual blade left its sheath and she fixed the pack of filthy scum with a hateful red glare. "We are not dogs," she sneered. "We are here to fight our own brothers and sisters to save your homes and lives. So watch your tongue, besom. Have some respect for those fighting your battles without asking for anything in return."

That was enough weapons drawn that Niall drew his automatically as well. His hand remained down at his side, though.

He stepped closer to Markus, lowering his voice. "That's enough. We're all soldiers here. We're all fighting for Bankor. And we've all just fought and bled together. If you ask me, that should be enough to earn respect all around." He looked back and the Mandalorians. "That goes for both sides."

He sighed. How had he managed back when he started with Vera. "Stand down. Let's get that armor off, and get Jano to a medic. We can talk more about respect later."

[Nekoinu]

The rest of the Mandalorians drew their weapons in concert with Nai'tiri. "Pig blood it is, then."

"Hold, hold. Let's not be too hasty," he said. He was still trying to act tough but his composure was clearly lost. Markus and most of his men lowered their blasters. "Dammit, man, point that thing somewhere else!" He grabbed the rifle and tossed it away into the field. "Well come on, get the armor off!"

The Kelborn duo knelt down and began to strip Jano of the ill-gotten armor. "Next time, we'll do much worse. That goes for both the Republic and the Resistance," one of them warned. He pointed to each one as indicated. "You seem friendly with the Captain. Make sure they all understand that."

[Niall Organa]

"I understand." Niall said quietly. He had been working with Vera for almost two years, after all.

He stepped closer to the Kelborn leader. "And I'll make sure that this doesn't happen again. But you do your part, too. If you have a problem with someone in the Republic or the Resistance, come to me." He gestured at the wounded man, "The Republic is my clan. And disciplining my clan is my business."

[Nai'tiri Cadera]

Nai raised an eyebrow in surprise as the baby-faced Captain spoke Mando'a, but held her surprise for now as she kept an eye on the spineless 'Resistance'-members while the Kelborns handled the armor. Just in case they might try something shady.

"Appriciate your luck and that of your men," she said to the man who called himself Markus. "That goes for the thief too. This will not be tolerated a second time. Armor of Mando'ade is not for the taking, be they friend or foe."

[Nekoinu]

The Resistance members were on the back foot, though they seemed to turn from fear to resentment. Their postures were non-hostile but they were not pleased with the situation still.

"The language is spoken on Alderaan? I would think the planet would be destroyed sooner than that." The Kelborn finally stripped the man of the armor and stepped back with the pieces. They then looked at Nai'tiri and one asked, "Where's the rest of your group anyways?"

In the meantime, Markus got some of his men to drag away Jano. "Damn, where're the damn stimpacks when you need them?" the makeshift medic murmured to himself. He patted his pockets before deciding to make do with the bandages that he had.

[Nai'tiri Cadera]

This really was a shoddy operation, it seemed like. Nai sighed, reached into one of the pouches on her utility belt and found a stim, holding it out for the 'medic'. "Here." Personally, she wanted to string up the guy for the birds to peck to death, but he... they... had acted without knowing. After today, it would not be tolerated again.

"I have not met the other Cadera yet. Been escorting a senator, so only me and one other of us in that group." She replied to the Kelborn.

[Niall Organa]

"It's spoken by me." Niall said firmly. Regardless, their side of things seemed to be sorted. It was time to see to the other side.

He turned, following the Chiss Mandalorian as she moved to the Resistance group. Some of the tenseness around his eyes vanished as she pulled a stimpack from her pouch. He gave her another nod, this one grateful. Once this dilemma was past, he'd want a word with her.

"If you'd like, we can bring him to a Republic medic. They'll get him treated in no time." His lips quirked. "I should know. They've done it for me, before."

[Nekoinu]

"If you get lonely, give me a call!" It was clear his tone was hopeful.

The other Kelborn gave him a punch on the shoulder. "Give us a call, vod." They then began carrying away the armor. From a distance, bits of their conversation were caught about the Chiss' attractiveness and whether or not it was appropriate to speak of it.

For the Resistance, the medic was spooked by Nai'tiri's approach. He stared at the stimpack and then recognized its purpose. "Right, right." He took it without much fanfare and stuck it inside him. "There we go, there we go Jano. You're going to be fine, you stupid bastard."

Markus placed both hands at his belt buckle. "Naw, we have this handled, Captain," he claimed with his own aura of authority.

[Nai'tiri Cadera]

"Happy hunting." Nai rolled her eyes as she looked away from the departing Kelborns. Probably not the first time she had heard it judging from her reaction, and she knew it wouldn't be the last.

Putting her blade away, she looked at the Captain, and back at Markus. "Suggest more than just that stim. Can't have people spending time recovering when we need combat-readiness," she said as much to Niall as to the Resistance.

Niall nodded agreement. "I respect your men, and the work you do, Markus. And I have no doubt you could handle this."

He gestured back towards the camp. "But we've brought fresh, state of the art supplies. And what's ours is yours. Here. Let me help you carry him to a stretcher." He shot the Chiss another quick glance, his lips pressed together.

Markus looked to his men who were all unified in not standing up to their allies. "Right. Come on, let's get him going." The medic helped in carrying the man to the stretcher while the rest of the Resistance kept up a perimeter. None of them, after all that had happened, appeared to be too talkative.
