Filo had seen enough. The display on the sands was nothing but a show of false bravado and cowardice.

For a moment, a brief memory of a past fear ran over him. He brushed a hand against his helmet, contemplating his next choice. As he saw the shots continually miss on purpose, he strolled out to the appropriate area, lamenting the possibility of missing the later gathering.

He slung his blaster rifle over his shoulder and then signaled the opposing force of his intent to duel.

"Face me! Or have the Kryze and Varada sunk so low to be dar'manda!"

[Nekoinu]

The Mandalorian of Clan Ordo was given safe passage out through the desert. Sniper fire converged elsewhere and therefore allowed a few prisoners to escape unharmed.

Out there, in the desert, one of them in rags stopped him. However, he was much burlier and healthier than the others. "I will be your opponent today." He tore off his cloak and stepped back. "Clan Ordo? Here to prove the Mandalore pretender wrong? You will bleed knowing that your efforts were for a Republic not worth saving."

He tore off his shirt as well, revealing a body scarred by prior blades. "I, Garreth of Clan Varad, seek glory in this duel today!" he shouted into the air with his arms lifted to the sky. "I have no demands of my opponent shall I win. Blood will be enough! My only request, if death comes for me, is to be given the respect due to the Mando'ade."

Filo began the procedure of preparing for the duel.

"My efforts are not for the Republic. They are for my family."

As he shed his armor, his own skin showed several scars from prior blades besides the one on his face.

"Your request will be granted. I assure you that."

[Nekoinu]

The man of Clan Varad lowered his arms and then nodded. "I see. I can respect that. May I know your name to remember you by, should I win?" He kept his blade at his side, waiting for the answer, ready to start once both of them were prepared.

Garreth was sure to remember the blow that came for him. He saw an opening of his own and took it. With the sand raging about, perhaps it was enough to leave Filo at a disadvantage.

The scarred mandalorian flinched at the attack, and the sand was in his eyes, ruining any nominal advantage he may have gained.

His instinct carried out his next swing, and while it wasn't deep, he saw Garreth's blade drop. He attempted to distance the man's weapon from him with a well placed kick.

"Haar'chak!" Garreth turned heel and went to pick up his blade. Unfortunately for him, he had to simply wait for Filo to come to him.

The wounds were too much to muster any memorable final words. He briefly thought of who would receive his armor after this. Did he earn a place in the manda after this life? Unanswered questions.

He lay bleeding in the sands, a faceless casualty in the galaxy.

"I am the victor once more!" Garreth shouted into the expanse of the desert. He traced a finger across his wounds and then looked back to Filo. "A good fight, Filo. I think you added to my scars. Now then, anything left to say? I will make sure you and your armor are returned to Clan Ordo."

[Filo Ordo]

"Make it clean."

He rolled over, his own history of scars, both fresh and new, showing he was fortunate to have made it this far.

Garreth nodded and planted his sword in the sand. He picked up his discarded blaster and stood over the fallen Mandalorian. "Go now. You are worthy addition to the Manda." He waited to see if the man had any final words before taking the finishing shot.

There were no more words to be said. He simply closed his eyes and waited for the inevitable end.
