Bankor

Having been less than successful with his search for Med-Aid patches back in Uthan Mil, Cole was on the prowl once more for the useful addition to his kit. The slap-patches were proving just a little too elusive for the tired surgeon, however. He didn't find any, but he did happen to encounter a familiar Gand.

"Good evening Dr. Ormont. Fancy running into you here."

"Good evening, Jedi Hamelin, taking advantage of the night air to do some shopping?" There was a window of maybe thirty minutes when the heat of the day had waned, but the night time chill hadn't set in that could be described as downright pleasant. Still, Cole was wearing a thermal cloak over his fatigues.

Hamelin for his part hasn't taken off the thermal cloak or scanner goggles since coming onto Bankor. You never know when you may be caught in some bad weather. He nods to Cole's question. <Casdu poeiv acspm ecim eopme cimeal>
"I thought to just top off my stimpacks while we have the area under control. I ended up using one after saving some hostages. Only way I was walking back to the medical tent."

"A prudent move," Cole said, running a hand through his blonde curls. "I was hoping to pick up some medical supplies myself, but it seems the rarer items have already been ransacked."

"Medical supplies are always in high demand during a war. Since you are here, may I ask for your help looking for some stimpacks. I figure a doctor will have an eye for spotting some good product."

"I'm sure I can manage that, some of the locals have done a good job of keeping their goods safe." Cole pointed down one of the streets, "there's a shop down there I think might have stimpacks."

Hamelin nods and starts to head over to the shop keeping pace with Cole. <Dcpoe asimd erpocm asme comasio eon>
"It seems like you and the other healers are working yourselves to the bone with all the injuries."

Running a hand through his hair, "no more than anyone else," his tone agreeable, if not friendly. "Did you choose Bankor, or were you assigned?"

"I chose Bankor as it is ripe to spread the blessings of death."

"That doesn't sound like the sort of thing a Jedi would say, how does the Order feel about these blessings?"

"It makes them uncomfortable. Though even they have to admit that death is part of the balance."

Nodding, he understood that much, “we’re here to prevent a whole bunch of death though, how does that fit in with your philosophy?”

<Click clack> Hamelin responds.
"Death comes to all sooner or later. If a person's life is a story then death is the ending of that story. Sometimes it is short and sweet. Other times it is a long epic. A premature ending can ruin a good story. Though on the flip side, a story can drag on and become boring if just keeps going and going. We must write the best stories that we can."

That earnt a cock of the eyebrow from Cole. Seems like a little too much power to put on one person’s judgement, but he shied from delving and deeper. If the Jedi Order was okay with Hamelin’s philosophy, then that was good enough, though it was something he would muse upon during the many nights when he couldn’t sleep. When the memory of a lightsaber that nearly cut his own story short haunted his nightmares, he would often lie awake and wonder how his saving of that Sith’s life played into the tale.

Hamelin stops at a merchant and checks out some of the wares. He holds out a stimpack for Cole to see. <Chrt>

Cole examined the stims critically. They were still in date, the packaging undamaged, and the long, intimidating words listed under the active ingredients didn't include anything that shouldn't have been there. After a long moment, he gave his nod of approval.

<Zot> Hamelin nods and then goes and makes the purchase.
"Thank you for your assistance once again Dr. Ormont. Please let me know if there is anything that I may assist you with in the future."

"My pleasure," he murmured.

Hamelin nods and puts away his purchase. <Crick>
"It seems like the Republic and Resistance are making headway with taking the planet back from the Mandalorians. Though since you see all the injuries, I am curious as to how your view of things are Dr. Ormont."

“It peaks and troughs. Once we bring an area under control, the number of patients begins to taper off as the fighting stops.”

"That makes sense. I guess we are fortunate that we have been gaining ground."
