Description: In the middle of the night, Cyan Nexu stumbled upon an unknown figure wearing one of the SIS trooper uniforms meddling with files. Before she could cry for help, she was stabbed a few times and left to bleed out. The suspect fled to the hangar and managed to get to a speeder bike before someone could properly stop them. One Republic team is able to pursue them almost immediately while another lags behind...

Rules: This event will be a vehicle chase. Two participants each will be on the two vehicles provided. The speeder bikes have a Speed of 2 and have no innate weapons. They are currently going at Speed 1 through the terrain. You can go to Speed 2 to be faster but upgrade any difficulties made on the bike.

One bike will start at Medium Distance from them while the other will start at Extreme. Please roll Vigilance for Initiative when you join along with Wounds/Strain, Soak, Defense, and which Speeder you're taking/driver or passenger.

Garth heard the alarm and sprinted to the hangar leaoing in the drivers sest of one of the republic speeders. He's about to gun it into gear when Jenkins flags him down.

"Whaddya mean there's an obstruction hurty up and fuckin' clear it. We got spies to catch." He yelled as he fastened his respirator before leaving the safe atmosphere of the base.

Driving medium speeder

Jax heard the alarms go up rousing him from his sleep on the Midnight luckily he had chosen the spot closest to the republic hangar. He grabbed a speeder and he felt someone jump on the back but he didn't turn to see who it was as he coaxed the speeder to life and shot out of the hangar in pursuit of the alleged spies.

The spy team seemed ready for any pursuers. The one on the back turned around with their pistol at the ready.

For this chase, at the beginning of each Round both pilots will make Piloting: Planetary (Agility) Checks at Hard Difficulty with 2 Setback Dice due to the trees. Having more successes than your opponent will mean that the range band will increase. Increasing the speed of the bike makes you move one speed band automatically (as they are at base speed) but anyone going higher (pilot will if he increases speed) will upgrade their check once. Once you fall out of Extreme range, you are out of the chase! A Despair, if it isn't obvious, will result in a crash.

For the pilots' turn, their maneuvers are considered spent on driving but they can use their action to make a potshot. This must be with a one-handed weapon. If they do, the difficulty of the shot is upgraded once and the next piloting check has its difficulty upgraded twice. Don't shoot and drive!

Everyone receives 2 Setback Dice to their shots due to the speed. Passengers can use a one-handed weapon with no further penalty. Passengers may elect to use a two-handed weapon but will need to roll a Coordination (Agility) Check at Average or Hard Difficulty. If going normal speed, the former, and faster is Hard. Upgrade the die once. If you succeed but get a Despair, your shot will miss but you are otherwise okay. If you fail, your shot has its difficulty upgraded once. If you fail and get a Despair, you fall off the speederbike.

It was obvious that the speeder was not what Garth was used to, he'd become to spoiled by Tallulah's raw speed and missed the shift timing to accelerate into the next gear. That cost him precious seconds and he needed to push himself to prevent falling further behind, even that wasn't going to be enough.

Eventually it was his fear of failure, his fear of looking bad in the eyes of the other pilots after talking the talk and failing to follow through that spurred him to close the gap, if only slightly.

The passenger on the back took a shot at the lead pilot, leaving a stinging wound straight to the chest. If the shot had been slightly worse, perhaps it would have resulted in a crash...

I forgot to mention that both spies have Adversary 1. The one on the back has Defense 1 while the pilot does not.

Garth/Galen are at Long Range from them while Jax/Azura stay at Medium.

Galen took a moment to steady himself, then lined up the shot. Garth's piloting brought him right into position and he fired, hitting the passenger of the feeling bike squarely. The other spy reflexively steered away, towards Jax and Azura.

The passenger held on to dear life and patted the driver to go faster. The other one nodded and increased the speed. Inadvertently, he ended up slamming into a tree and sent them both tumbling into the dirt...

From the distance, the pilot could be seen getting up while the passenger was motionless.

Make Piloting Checks as if you were still in a chase. If you do not speed up, they will increase the range band. Failure means you will move up one, success means you will increase by two. Nekoinu will destiny flip both bikes to see if you crash as well!
