Description: Garreth Varad was training the green recruits to Clan Varad when the attack began. Taking him out before he can return to Eralynn could be paramount to victory. To make things more complicated, he has a former prisoner who has been indoctrinated into assisting him. She dotes on him, likely in an attempt to earn his appreciation rather than his ire.

When the team arrives, he laughs with his dire axe hefted over his shoulder. Reports indicated that it is incredibly vicious, capable of tearing people apart with ease. "Seven to four, huh? Excellent training for new blood, I'd say." He pushes the woman off of his arm. "I'll need both hands to cut them apart."

Rules: Please post your Wounds/Strain, Soak, Defense, and Crits. when you post in this thread. Roll Cool (Presence) for Initiative.

You will start at Medium Range from Garreth, his assistant, and two minion groups of three green recruits each.

Stockholm Syndrome:

As it happens, the indoctrinated young woman is the daughter of a prominent Resistance leader. If the assistant is wounded (strain is okay,) lose -0.1 Trust. If the assistant is killed, lose -0.3 Trust.

She will be engaged with Garreth whenever possible, ready to heal him, meaning Blast weapons will hurt her. If he is about to take the final wound to take him down, she will flip a Destiny to jump in the way of the shot, potentially killing her.

Turrets Engage

At the end of Round 2, a minion group of 3 turrets will activate above the starting position of Garreth Varad. As they are on the ceiling, they will be unreachable for melee weapons.

Man to Man: A sniper is on standby in the instance the battle goes southward. He is at Long Range and will not fire until Garreth is wounded twice or downed or the Republic outnumbers his people there. Turrets and the assistant do not count towards this number. He will still have an initiative count throughout the entire conflict.

Rewards/Outcome: If the squad succeeds in defeating Garreth, he and his retinue will not be there to assist Eralynn. Otherwise, they will arrive with the assumption that they recovered strain/used stimpacks to have more fighting capability. If the sniper is the last one standing, Garreth will survive and be stimmed to help Eralynn. PCs will also survive.

Taking Garreth down accrues 1 Victory Point.

Aran produced a lightsaber from seemingly nowhere, and ignited it with the characteristic snap-hiss. He offered a small bow to the Mandalorians.

"I hope you taught your trainees well," he said, reaching up to adjust his sun-shades with his off hand. "Because you all are about to get... schooled."

Jax groaned audibly at the pun "Do they have a pun class at the academy or something?" he said with his blaster rifle in his hands his armor repaired and ready for action Jax took up a spot near the jedi "Hey man why not just go home or something and save us all some headache eh?" he threw out to the waiting adversaries.

"Tempted to just let them kill you for that pun" Azura said in a deadpan voice as she eyed up the target. She hadn't drawn her weapon yet, but her blaster and the odd pipe-shaped weapon were easy enough to see by those with her.

Jax knew one his from that axe would end him so he retreated and put some distance between him and the group fighting he found some cover and set up Josephine for a shot he nailed Garreth in the chest doing a solid amount of damage.

That stung. Azura narrowed her eyes at the person who dared shoot her, and in the blink of an eye had moved forward, her double-bladed saber spinning in a greenish-red circle at it sliced through the idiot who had shot her.

That had pissed her off, and she stimmed herself as she moved.

The woman looked at the man approaching. "Oh Garreth, it's not safe here!" she screamed before hiding behind him. It looked like she was about to flee.

"Garreth, not all of us have beskar'gam!" one of the back recruits shouted. They took the time to take aim at the man behind the group and fired. The bolts scattered about but one did sent Jax's weapon scattering. It was apparently suppressing enough for the smuggler to be in a tighter situation.

Aran ran forward towards the melee, rushing to Azura's side. He feinted towards one of the recruits, dodged past another in a way that had them spinning around back-to-back, and came up on Garreth's blind side. The man turned too quickly to be simply cut down, but had to retreat in the face of Aran's advance.

Aran watched for an opening, speaking serenely in the middle of the fight. "They tell me you are a great instructor of warriors, and I am but a Padawan. So please, may I..." he swung his shoto in a quick upwards arc that cut both the man's weapon and face, "axe you some questions?"

The man's helmet kept his face from being utterly obliterated by the blow. The scorch marks on his face made his assistant absolutely terrified. It seemed as if she was about to faint.

"Alright Garreth, you've had your fun but you're losing." The sniper levels his rifle and chooses the Jedi who had just cut up Garreth's face. He fires a masterful shot, straight through the melee, and then straight through the man's leg...

Once Aran was shot, Galen reacted immediately. He'd grown sick of the snipers. Quickly storing his still unlit lightsaber, he redrew his rifle and took aim at the other sharpshooter and fired. The slug struck solidly, knocking the breath out of the sniper, at the least.

Azura looked...pissed. The axe was bad enough, but Arans puns just pushed her over the edge. With a scream in anger, she slashes hard. First one nearly takes Garreths leg off, the second one dealing simliar damage to the other leg.

The look in her eyes said simply you're stuck with me now. as she stimmed herself

Jax grimaced as the gun went spinning from his hand he wanted to get back there but he didn't have time to do anything useful so he lined up a shot on the group that shot at him and returned fire landing an impressive shot.

Azura, entirely on autopilot, barely reacted when the weapon was shot from her hands. Instead, she spun round, collecting her saber and in a flash swiped at Garreth, going for his head. He didn't lose a head, but likely an ear would suffer from the strike
