[Day 2 - Early Evening] Preserving the Past

PostPosted: Mon Jun 04, 2018 4:46 am
by Vasir Rexa
Event Type: Mission, Combat
Power Cost: 2
Participants: 4 players
Timeslots: Early Evening

Description: Doctor Rexa has requested a team to assist her with protecting relics and objects in the museum from Mandalorian vandals. Tano Kryze has ordered his soldiers to destroy the honored relics of the natives and a squad has come to do just that. Now it is a race against time to protect the valuable relics before they are completely destroyed by the Mandalorians.

Once the situation is cleared Doctor Rexa will move in to secure the valuable and work with the native resistance to get the precious relics out of sight.

Rules: This is a combat encounter. The Mandalorians will focus on doing damage to the relics unless a hero moves to Engaged with them. When combat begins there is a Collateral Damage tracker that starts at 0, if this reaches 25 then too much damage has been done to salvage the relics. If a ranged attack generates 2 Threat, hit or miss, increase Collateral Damage by 1. Melee attacks that generate at least three threat increase Collateral Damage by 1, Blast weapons if activated deal Collateral Damage equal to half their Blast value, weapons with Breach always increase the Collateral Damage by 1; this does not apply to Lightsabers wielded by a Force User trained with Lightsaber, i.e. Lightsaber skill of 1 or higher. These all stack, so if you utilize a Breach ranged weapon with Blast 6 and generate 2 threat while activating Blast would generate 5 Collateral Damage.

Each round that a Mandalorian is not Engaged they will increase Collateral Damage by 3, until they reach 25 Collateral Damage. Republic begins at Medium range to the Mandalorians.

Rewards/Outcome: The primary reward is additional Power and if the combat is successful then gain 2 Victory points.

Trust Modified: .2 Trust is gained, successful or not.
Power Modified: 4 Power gained if the combat is successful.
Duty Earned: Increase Duty by 5.

Aran had jumped to answer Dr. Rexa's request, sure that the Masters would approve of stopping such wanton and ignorant destruction. He had found a place in the shadows to stand sentry, his hood up, until the moment of confrontation came.

Then Aran stepped forward, his lightsaber casting a blue glow over the scene. "Looks like you guys are about to be..." He paused to slowly pull his hood back, in the same motion adjusting his sunshades. "-- history."

He had thought really hard about that line while he had waited.

Layne had an interest in the past of her own, even if the particular past on display here was not relevant to her. She had been itching for a fight though. Or perhaps it was more about making herself useful? She wasn't sure. As the group approached, Layne prepared by controlling her breathing, and letting the force flow around her...

...before she took out the darksaber; first time she'd used that in quite a while, and flipped it on. A dark black blade, color and shape quite unlike any other lightsaber, with a hum at a higher frequency than normal, threathening to devour the light around it.

The Mandalorian squads were disciplined and despite the influx of Jedi with light swords stayed on task, flame projectors ignited and they tore into the relics much to the horror of the good Doctor Rexa. The Mandalorian on the second floor paced back and forth as he watched the work being done.

OOC: The Mandalorians deal a total of 12 collateral damage between the 4 squads of three on the first floor, before Jedi squad can react.

The republic begins at Medium range to the four minion groups and Long range to the Blooded Leader, who is on the second floor looking down. There are four minion groups of 3 on the first floor. Aran's tranquil mask remains in place as the museum, a place that should be reserved for peaceful contemplation, explodes into flame and violence; but inside he feels himself flinch and hesitate. He seeks comfort in the presence of other, more experienced Jedi, a feeling undermined by Layne's bizarre weapon and brutal style. Training takes over, and he snaps off his lightsaber to weave un-illuminated through the darkened museum, re-igniting it with a snap-hiss as he flips over a display case to land among the Mandalorian warriors. One is falling before his feet touch the ground, cut through the chest in an overhand strike. A second falls away from a backhand swing, done without Aran turning his head, and he cleaves the last's flame projector through the barrel.

"You may surrender," he says calmly. "The Force guides me."

Attack with a destiny flip:

Shwoom lightsaber: 2eP+2eA+2eB+1eS+1eC+1eD 2 successes, 2 advantage, 1 Triumph
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Some question about how much murder and sundering I can achieve, but assuming they have less than 5 wounds, I'm hoping to drop one with 7 damage plus breach, another with a crit, and spend 2 advantages sundering the last's weapon to challenge-die-bad.

The Leader lifts his rifle and looks at a display case of armor and fires multiple blasts from his disruptor rifle into the case atomizing the relic with precision. “You fight for the weak, when you should embrace your strength!”

The lone Mandalorian facing Layne rolled from her and then brought his flame projector to bear… the heat and flames kissing her tough skin! Delmi suffers a similar fate as that squad moves away to douse her with flames… while the lone Mandalorian draws a vibro-sword and knees Aran before slashing him across the chest viciously!

OOC: Increased Collateral Damage to 21. All Mando Squads are Engaged, the Leader is not. Squad #1 and Squad #4 have 1 person each, the rest are at 3. Aran is struck for 7 wounds, Pierce 2 by Mando Squad #4 and a Critical Injury! Mando Squad #3 attacks Delmi dealing 11 wounds with the flame projector. Grants their next ally a boost die.

"Asshole..." Delmi cursed to herself as she missed her target the first time. She quickly turned her blasters to the lone fighters in front of the two jedi.

"Go!" She yelled at them as her blasts landed between her enemies' eyes. She then holstered a gun, pulled out a stim and injected it.

Layne switched targets to the most dangerous of the bunch after disarming the last enemy near her, but as she started running he managed to recover the flamethrower and bathed her in flames.
The young jedi seemed almost impervious to them, not slowing down as kept up her sprint. Finding purchase on some debris, she used it as a foothold to jump up to the open floor above, coming
face to face with the leader.

"You don't know the danger you're in, do you?"

A wicked grin played across her face, telling him she was no ordinary jedi to be dismissed, if the darksaber itself wasn't enough to clue him in. As soon as the words left her mouth, before he even had a chance to process them, her weapon arced through the air as she spun around, slashing across his chest in a wide sweeping motion and inflicting immense pain.

“Jedi think they are so superior… but,” the Mandalorian said as the lightsaber failed to pierce his armor, “it does not take much to put you back in your place!” He dropped the rifle which was slung and quickly grabbed her arm twisted it back and pushed the strike away from doing any serious damage.

He clenched his fists, “Bout damn time I killed me another Jedi.”

OOC: 2 strain to Parry, Parry reduces damage by 5 to 6, soak the rest. He is unharmed no critical injury. Delmi kills off the two minions stragglers. Suffer a setback to next action due to threat on Fear.

by Aran Enfas
Aran had been in live combat before, but never like this; the flotsam of the underworld was ill-equipped, undisciplined, and likely to flee at first blood (or the first ignition of a lightsaber). The sudden counterattack slipped past his guard without crossing his blade. Pain, too, in training and in action, was no stranger, but even so Aran let out a faint gasp as blood began to dampen his brown robes.

In a blink the soldier was down, shot between the eyes, and Aran was on the move before he could become lost in thinking about how quickly life could end in violence. He paced quickly through the exhibits, coming around a column to blindside a Mandalorian. Their two friends visibly hardened their resolve, and Aran did not waste his breath with an offer of surrender, instead ducking back behind the column to force them to come around for another shot.

OOC: Aran gracefully removes one of the Mandalorians but two remain though one is grievously wounded! Takes 6 wounds! Critical Injury removes minion, Move from Short to Engaged. Take 2 strain for the second maneuver (take cover).

After the initial distraction caused by Layne's charge, Zhao recovered his concentration and attacked furiously. Unlike the commonly cautious and defensive approach of the Form III his soresu technique was really violent using his raw strength to completely obliterate the mandos defenses.

'' Oi, kid! Kill the fucker or go home!'' He yelled at Layne, trying to both provoke and encourage her into defeating the mando leader. Zhao may have finally recognize her after all, her way of grinning and savagery, like a wrathful little animal, probably she was the same kid girl he met years ago...
