WookieeGameElder: Finally, you hear a familiar call... or quite nearly a familiar call
WookieeGameElder: You recognize it as a grove-harrier, but something sounds off about it, as though it is sick
WookieeGameElder: An instant later, three of them sweep into your line of sight. The grey infection seems to have spread to them as well, and their feathers seem patchy and rough. Their eyes, normally dark, gleam red with madness
WookieeGameElder: Everyone, roll initiative. Remember, that's your reflexes stat, plus your highest combat skill, plus any static modifiers

It looked like it would be a nice easy fight, no doubt a way for new players to get some experience with the system.

WookieeGameElder: The grove-harriers go at 12. If you get higher than that, go ahead and go first. Order isn't that important

Onnowrrhesshooack is rolling
Onnowrrhesshooack rolled a 12
Onnowrrhesshooack: Onno is distracted by a particularly beautiful flower when the corrupted beasts appear so he is not a sharp as he would usually be but he raises his steel clad fists ready to fight eventually.

Co'law: Co'law takes a stick. "Ah. The legendary Stick of Beating. I remember this when I was young. I shall wield it with honor and senility.

Ashla sends a message to WookieGameElder.

Col'aw: Hey, can my stick be haunted by some ancient corruption.

Ashla wondered if Spindral would know she was trolling him. But she went back to the game.

Col'aw: I don't care where I am. I will just smash things.

Rolls a -4.

Col'aw: Col'aw is a proud wizard of power. He laughs at the enemy. Let them come first. He goes last goes last.

Col'aw: OOC: I probably shouldn't took so many disadvantages in speed.

Graawwar rolled a 10

Is there something questionable about this random number generator? Tethys wonders to herself. A pity she lacks the computer knowledge to investigate the nefarious RNG.

Niall raised an eyebrow. This wasn't in the manual. Well, he knew that when missions went off the rails, sometimes you had to improvise.

He wrote a message to Co'law:
WookieeGameElder: Sure, that's fine. I'll come up with something

He switched back to the main channel.

WookieeGameElder: Okay, Rhaav and Onno, you can go ahead and take your turns whenever
WookieeGameElder: PCs beat NPCs in ties
WookieeGameElder: Don't forget that you can spend Rrakktor points for bonuses
WookieeGameElder: That's what sets Wookiees apart from everyone else

Niall frowned.

WookieeGameElder: Well, one of the things

Rhavv: I'll start

Rhavv: Rhavv begins to drum and sing the songs of his people, filling his fellow heroes with courage and pride!

Rhavv: I active my battle song so +4 to attacks and saves against negativemental influences

Onnowrrhesshooack: Onno's heart swells hearing the song of his people and uses his mighty leap ability to engage one of the corrupted beasts, then he trades in his two attacks for one special hammer fist attack gaining +4 to damage if he hits.
Onnowrrhesshooack is rolling
Onnowrrhesshooack rolled a 16
Onnowrrhesshooack: eh not a great roll considering the +4 from Rhavv and my natual +6 but there it is!

WookieeGameElder: A 15 will hit, so a 16 is definitely successful
WookieeGameElder: Go ahead and roll for damage
WookieeGameElder: 10 will drop it

He fully expected the creature to drop in one hit.

Must have been bad luck on Onno's part. Or maybe they really weren't using the dice roller properly?

WookieeGameElder: Is everyone making sure to add your stat to the dice rolled?
WookieeGameElder: Anyway, Onno, the creature shakes with the force of your blow and your mighty roar, but it does not drop. The creatures swoop in, attacking...
WookieeGameElder is rolling
WookieeGameElder rolled 12, 8, 18
WookieeGameElder: Those are coming at Onno, Col'aw, and Vheewanna respectively
WookieeGameElder: Anyone hit takes 4 damage. Everyone else, go ahead and take turns in any order you please

Tethys gives her console a skeptical look. Really?

Graawwar: Graawwar strikes one of the creatures accurately with his blade.
Graawwar: It doesn't seem be hurt very much. Perhaps grove-harriers are not his usual prey.
Graawwar: Graawwar growls.

Niall frowned. Communication was a bit difficult in this format.

WookieeGameElder: Graawwar, which one were you attacking? Was it the same one as Onno?
WookieeGameElder: If so, that is enough to drop it
WookieeGameElder: Please make sure to declare your targets before you roll in the future

WookieeGameElder: Damage should be be based on your strength and your weapon damage
WookieeGameElder: You should be doing at least 3 damage, and that's if you're really unlucky

...

Despite the best efforts of the dice roller, it wasn't long before the group managed to down the rest of the grove-harriers. Niall decided to keep things moving along.

WookieeGameElder: The shaman's hut lies just before you. The wood of the hut seems to be as badly afflicted by the decay as the rest of the surrounding land
WookieeGameElder: Even as you approach the hut, the shaman stumbles out
WookieeGameElder: Her fur is grey and matted, just like the trees. She howls softly before tumbling to the ground, obviously in pain

Graawwar: Graawwar tries to help this shaman stand up. He asks her what happened.

Tethys wrinkles her brow. That seems awfully bland, doesn't it?

Graawwar: Graawwar tells her everything will be all right. We're here to help!

WookieeGameElder: The shaman recoils and draws away from you.
WookieeGameElder: "Stay back! Don't touch me!" She howls.
WookieeGameElder: "If you touch me, it may spread to you, too. It attacks the mind!"
WookieeGameElder: "You must find the source. And stop the dark one. That is the only way to stop its spread."

WookieeGameElder: The shaman rolls onto her back, her breathing ragged
WookieeGameElder: "When you defeat the Dark One, the illness should fade."
WookieeGameElder: "Look in my home. You shall find my staff there."
WookieeGameElder: "The Dark One lies further to the north."

Niall paused here. The instructions said to describe the Dark One, but it didn't actually list a description. He paged rapidly forward, but couldn't find anything either. Finally, he shrugged. He would just have to improvise.

WookieeGameElder: "She has skin the color of blood, and wields a sword of twin fire!"
WookieeGameElder: "She calls herself the 'Crimson Witch'."

Col'aw: Clo'aw steps up. "Don't worry. With my rich, luxurious fur and manly bark, I will seduce this witch. It was what I was made for.

Ashla thinks. Was it? I kinda forgot what I made this guy for. She looks at her character sheet. Welp. This isn't going to end well. At least, it's in character to think I can seduce the witch.

Ashla gets distracted as she begins her Wookie doctor and Wookie Sith erotic fan fiction.
