After asking around a bit, Galen found where Vasir Rexa usually spent her day. Hopefull;y, she was available.

She was busy working in a tent she had setup for her research as she catalogued some of the items they had moved from the museum. She worked quietly and diligently by herself as she had allowed her staff some downtime.

"Dr. Rexa?" Galen called into the tent. "Do you have a moment?"

She jumped and said, “Oh… mercy me, you startled me… was much too wrapped up in my work. Yes… umm… you have me at a disadvantage, mister?”

"Galen Sol." he introduced himself. ":I do apologize for disturbing you. But, I was hoping you might be able to help me."

“I got time to spare, how can I help you, Mister Sol?” she asked.

"As I understand it, you have been studying the relationship various cultures have had with the Force. I have been doing something similar, but have encountered something I don't quite understand." he explained. "Are you familiar with spirits who have lived on through the Force?"

“I am aware of the phenomenon, have you had such an encounter?” she asked.

"I have." he nodded. "I've been hearing the spirit for some time. But, I saw and spoke to him yesterday."

“Well that is interesting, would you mind telling me more of the encounter,” she responded.

"He's attached to a light saber. This one." he showed her the hit. "I found it in the debris of a crashed barge on Nar Shaddaa a couple of years ago. I reforged it and made it my own, but I could feel a presence attached, even hear it sometimes. A friend told me it would fade. For a time, it seemed like it was, but it's been growing stronger."

"Yesterday, I spent some time meditating with the saber. I managed to connect with the spirit and speak with him for a short time. He introduced himself as Jedi Knight Yulu Kess ."

“May I?” she asked, holding out her hand.

He nodded and handed the saber to her.

The Doctor inspected it carefully for a several minutes careful not to igite it. She handed it back and said, “So my initial assessment this Yulo Kess is somehow bound to this lightsaber, given the connection Sith and Jedi ascribe to this weapon that is not surprising. Of course Jedi also tend to avoid deep attachments, so somehow this weapon or perhaps something tied to this weapon was important to him.”

“Has he made contact since?”

"No." he shook his head. "And, he disappeared somewhat abtuptly. It's possible that I need to call on him."

“You’re not a Jedi… but you wield a saber, interesting. Do you think you could call him?” she asked.

"I've had an interesting life." he shrugged.

Reaching out, he grasped the hilt and attempted to connect with Yulu. After a few minutes, however, he sighed and shook his head.

"There's something there, but it doesn't feel like he did. It doesn't feel right."

“What feels different this time?” she asked inquisitively as she took notes.

"It's like a sense of loss, a longing. I can feel the Dark side of the Force." he explained. "I won't call on that."

"Why not?" she asked.

"I feel that the Force is much like life. It is life, really." he shrugged. "In life we make choices. We follow impulses, good and bad, and make decisions, good and bad. When we act out of fear or anger, we often do so without considering the consequences, for ourselves or others. Sometimes, that's alright. Those decisions can lead to good things with minimal repercussions. But, the more we follow those impulses, the easier it becomes to disregard the potential fallout. It becomes easy not to care about how your actions harm others, or even yourself."

"There are also consequences for more selfless decisions, of course. And, even well calculated decisions can lead to bad results." he added. "You can be too cautious, too compassionate, too optimistic, and still have regrets. But, I'm more aware of what I've done, when I make more conscientious decisions. I can learn from my actions with a clearer perspective when I consider them free of frustration or desire. Even when I make mistakes, I feel assured by my motivations."

"Interacting with the Force is similar. The Dark Side is tempting. But, I see no satisfaction in it, no contentment."

"What does it feel like to channel the Dark side as opposed to the Light?" she asked.

"Primal." he answered. "Like surrendering to raw instinct, drawing power from savage emotion. The light side has an instinctual aspect, as well. But, it's more tranquil. If the light side of the Force is a peaceful snow covered mountainside, the dark side is the avalanche that comes from disturbing it."

“So you opt for peace instead of the ferocity of the avalanche. It seems like thre would be times when the avalanche is preferred,” she countered taking notes.

"Yes, definitely." he nodded. "Regardless of what the Jedi suggest, one cannot live without attachments. It's natural to desire and healthy to indulge in those desires. Passion is at the heart of life. The drive to explore and learn and the hope to leave an impression, a legacy, are part of who we are. The challenge is to not be caught in the avalanche. Don't let desire lead to greed or jealously. Do not allow fear to inspire paranoia and suspicion. Anger should not become irrational rage or hatred. Understand that lust does not mean love and accept that love can become loss."
