Niall hesitated a few moments, then nodded. "You're probably right." He turned back to Cole. "Cole..." He bit his lips. "Take care of yourself? Please? Don't... don't overdo it, with anything." His hands clenched down at his sides. He didn't quite know what do to. How to help. Perhaps he couldn't; he did need the occasional reminder that he couldn't help everyone, fix everything.

Frowning, he moved back to Lyseil's bed. He crossed his arms over his chest, his expression unreadable as he waited for her to wake up.

Lyseil's breathing at eased after Cole's expert administrations, becoming more steady as a more healthy color was slowly returning to her face.

She seemed to be stirring, thankfully on heavy painkillers at the moment that dulled the agony of having been shot, but on the other hand it meant she wasn't quite... present as she was coming to. For her, it felt like she had thick wool over her brain that just made everything seem fuzzy and weird.

Niall's breath caught. After a moment, he swallowed.

Reaching down, he put his hand on Lyseil's. It felt cold... of course, the blood loss. He smiled wanly down at her. "Hang in there, Sergeant." That didn't seem quite right. "Lyseil." Better. "You're going to be okay."

Her hand wasn't really responsive to the touch, though she did seemed to try to pull him closer.

"Sir..." she murmured with a somewhat strange smile on her face. "... The Sankara Stones are safe."

Lyseil blinked lazily, before closing her eyes again and falling into that odd sleep of painkiller and exhaustion.

Feeling that little tug on his hand, Niall leaned closer, tilting his head as Lyseil's lips parted to speak.

His eyes widened. The Sankara Stones...? It took him a few moments to recognize that.

Chuckling helplessly, Niall shook his head. "Oh, good. In that case, you can rest." He let his hand remain on hers for a few more moments before giving it one last squeeze and reclaiming it. He sat back with a sigh, somewhat relieved, allowing his attention to wander to other injured.

(PM if approached or yelled at!)

As Niall turned his attention back to Lyseil, Cole felt a significant degree of relief. He figured it might be safe enough to head back to his bunk. Or, at least he was willing to risk being assigned an armed escort to make sure he went the barracks, and only the barracks.

Putting the datapad away, Cole pushed off the bed and placed a hand on Galen’s should, “I need a shower and a fresh uniform.”

"Alright." he nodded. "Lean on me. Let's get you cleaned up."

Cole smiled lopsidedly, surely Ashla couldn’t argue with that. “I’m not crippled yet, but I’ll be glad to have you walk with me.”

"Any time." he smiled.
