Rav wasn't so sure but was willing to give the Togruta the benefit of the doubt.

"Remind me... What the heck are you plannin' to do here?"

The togruta opened her datapad and showed her fellow mechanic the schematic for her project

''An energy barrier projector! Portable too!''

Rav looked at the plans. It wasn't the worst idea he'd ever heard of but he was sceptical. It had been attempted before by other engineers, but maybe the force would help or something.

"You know, the freakin' Gungans have figured out portable shield tech using energy fields. 'Course their actual energy barriers need humongous beasts to carry em around."

''Yes but that is because they need incredible power for large surfaces'' she had to admit ''This one works on a smaller scale and is less impenetrable. It is a little heavy but I am sure it will work''

Veeone was in the corner, plugged in for recharging.

It appeared to have stopped smoking now at least.

Rav shrugged. "Well, it sounds alright, sure. Let's see what the two of us can do."

He started scrutinising her plans more carefully, running a few equations in his head.

Baesal powered on the bench and her automated tool box

"Okay, but I still think yer crazy... Hey maybe if we...". It was a highly effective engineering montage.

''Yeeeees'' she said excited

''Wanna try it out?''

[Rav Devaroo]

"Sure... I mean... Maybe let me throw up some barricades first in case it explodes or something."

Rav wasn't convinced the Togruta wasn't going to tear a hole in the fabric of spacetime.

There was a soft beep from the corner and Veeone unplugged itself from the wall.

"Charge complete. Beginning short form diagnostics."

Baesal was giddy but understood the need to follow procedures

''Tell me when you are ready'' she said, picking up the device. It was smaller then anticipated...which was good! As she turned around she noticed Veeone and waved at the droid

Rav waved over at the droid. "Hey Veeone, better watch out - we're about to test Baesal's crazy new idea. Wanna come see?"

Using his sapper skills he grabbed a couple of sections of hull plating and set them up to form a simple but effective barricade.

''We ready?'' she asked

Veeone walked across, scanning the area.

"Is this construction in obeyance with Republic Army Field Manual regulations?"

''It is a brand new device!'' she said, quite pleased

" . . . That does not answer the question posed . . . "

[Baesal Zyn]

She looked furtively to the left and then to the right

''Yes''

Veeone swivelled to look at Rav.

"Specialist Devaroo?"

Rav blinked when the Jedi straight up lied to the battle droid. He raised a finger and then thought better of it. Jedi, who knew what their game was?

"Well my barricade sure is. Hmm. Yeah, you know what Veeone? Maybe you should take a moment to review your version of the field manual. Did you get the latest patch and update? While you're at it maybe you could review the section on Research and Development."

"Roger, roger."

He moved off to the recharge point and jacked in to the dataport there to do just that. A screen lit up green with yellow gridlines across it.

"Processing."

Baesal grinned like a maniac and began powering on the device

The device began to glow rapidely, emitting a soft light in all direction. When the light stabilised, there was a translucent blue energy bubble extending a few meters out of the generator

''WE DID IT!''

[Rav Devaroo]

"Yay us I guess?" Rav sounded sceptical from behind the blast plating. "So. Let's see. What did we do?"

[Baesal Zyn]

Baesal put the generator on the ground then moved out of the bubble to explain

''This energy field is designed to dissipate the energy of incoming shots before they reach those inside''

She out her hand out to follow the curve of the field

''It is not much but can prove invaluable to our troops''
