[R4OXY]

To anyone who could understand the language of binary, R40XY was displaying ze's singular vocabulary skills in complex cursing as the random soldier who had accosted ze escorted them throughout the hangar. After days of delay due to engine trouble, being forced into helping fix the ship with the incompetent human mechanic aboard and then this final indignity, R40XY was not a happy droid. However, hopefully this whole escorting would be over soon and ze could meet up with some of ze's fellow droids. Ze had heard whispers sufficient to spark ze's circuits and get ze out here. Hopefully, it would all be worth it.

[Garth Wayne]

"Whoa whoa whoa, easy there..." Garth takes a moment to read the droid's designator.

"Easy thar Oxy." He tried to calm the droid with hand gestures. "Take five Jenkins, ah'll see this little thing gets where it's going."

Garth turns to the droid after Jenkins departs and folds his arms. "Now where 'sactly are ya tryin' to get to?"

"Whoa whoa whoa, easy there..." Garth takes a moment to read the droid's designator.

Garth turns to the droid after Jenkins departs and folds his arms. "Now where 'sactly are ya tryin' to get to?"

The R4 unit fixes its visuals on the meatbeast and silences zeself.

*It is unusual to meet one who understands binary* Ze beeps out. *Also, my designation is R40XY. Please use it in its entirety.*

The droid ponders ze's answer. *I merely wish to leave this hangar. I have been inside a ship for far too long and wish to look around. But this...being...told me I was not allowed around without escort.*

"Well ah was forced ta learn it after mah last droid copilot ejected me from mah starfighter. Name's Garth by the way," he introduces himself as he listens to the droid chirp away. "Or ya can use my designation in its entirety of Ensign Garth Wayne, Callsign Black 4. But ain't it easier when we shorten these things?"

"Never mind Jenkins, he's what we designate a wanker, but ah haven't seen you around, you just arrive with the new supplies for the next engagement?"

Garth would see Jax wandering sans escort through the hangar in just a tank top and pants his hands stuffed in his pockets shoulders sagged and eyes looking a bit haggard. Jax in truth was simply turned around he was not used to early mornings in general but especially not after his activities last night which were also responsible for his now dwindling supply of good booze.

Garth would see Jax wandering sans escort through the hangar in just a tank top and pants his hands stuffed in his pockets shoulders sagged and eyes looking a bit haggard. Jax in truth was simply turned around he was not used to early mornings in general but especially not after his activities last night which were also responsible for his now dwindling supply of good booze.

"To hear Azura tell it you don't even know what this hour of day looks like Jax," Garth whispers as he steers OXY's hangar tour towards the rather out of it pilot. "You look like you've seen better days."

R40XY listened to the humans speech, having some difficulty parsing it with its odd dialect, but eventually adjusting. *Ah, that would be a good reason to learn. Why were you ejected?* Ze asks.

*Some beings prefer shortenings. I am not one of them. But I will call you Garth if that is what you prefer.* The R4 makes a few clicks that could be interpreted as agreement or some kind of amusement, depending on how hard one might anthropomorphize it.

*I will endeavor not to be around that being. And no, I am not part of the supplies any more than you are, Garth beast.*

Ze sees the diversion and heaves an internal sigh at the needs of meatbeasts for continuous socializing. But at least this Garth seemed vaguely tolerable.

*Ahh. I could see the difficulty. Droids do not have instincts. I do not understand how one does such a thing. It sounds complex.*

R40XY did not have feelings, but its computational algorithms did not hold a high statistical probability of being apologized to by any meatbeast most days. This was clearly an unusual situation, calling for some new parameters.

*Your words have been clarified. This is useful. Yes, I did arrive aboard the recent ship. There were some mechanical difficulties that needed addressing. *

Jax scratched his chin "Interesting, not too often you see R4 units running around on their own. What brings you to Bankor R4OXY?" Jax asked his tone at best neutral but considering how he felt it was as good as a ray of sunshine.

The R4 unit swiveled its head. *Looking for work. I had heard there was need of some skilled mechanics here. I came to see if the need came with adequate pay.*

[Jax Dolross]

that got a chuckle out of Jax "Republic military and adequate pay aren't two things one hears in the same sentence very often. But glad you're here, there's always need for more mechanics to fix up all the crap that gets broken. Jackson Dolross but everyone calls me Jax."

A slight exhalation of air came out of the R4's ports. *Adequate can be defined differently depending on the being. Many do not find it necessary to pay a droid anything. If the Republic does not operate this way, then that will be sufficient for the time being.*

The R4 swivels its head piece. *I will call you Jax as well. If you know of a mechanical issue or someone who wishes to pay for its repair, do inform me.*

Jax regarded the droid "You do much work on weapons modification?" he inquired with a quirked eyebrow.

Ze beeps an affirmative. *I have skills in many areas. Modifying existing technology is one of them. I would likely be more skilled at ship weaponry versus small arms however.*

[Jax Dolross]

Jax cracks a smile "Well unless the republic decides to provide me with a sudden windfall I won't be adding any new guns to the Midnight for some time. However before then I do have need of weapons modification on my blaster rifle but she's real special to me so I need to make sure the mechanic that does the work is top notch."

"Adequate pay?" Garth mumbled to himself. "What's a droid need with creds? Are you one of those independent models?"

Ze's spins their headpiece. *Yes. Creds, as you call them, are essential to my longevity and putting aside for eventual maintenance.*

[Jax Dolross]

Jax nodded "yeah makes sense a droid on their own would need to make a steady stream of creds to pay for things just like any organic life form. Usually an owner would take care of all that stuff but R4OXY doesn't seem to have one. Like I said unique droid"

R40XY made no noticeable movements at these statements. *I am not owned. There are others who are not. Not so unique.*

Jax looked at the doid "Well You're the first droid of your type that I've seen running solo. Usually the droids I've met that are totally independent are just different. Guess it doesn't matter too much." Jax said with a shrug

R40XY moves to change the subject. *Are you a pilot as the Garth is?*

Jax chuckles "Garth wishes he was a pilot like me." he said giving the ensign a good natured jab on the shoulder "yes I too am a pilot but I don't fly for the republic. Well I do for now but I'm not part of the republic military."
