Jax had taken a page out of Z's book and brought his own drink with him to the bar instead of relying on the swill they served that they claimed was beer. He sat there with a glass changing it up today and sipping on some Ruge from Alderaan. Today had been rather exciting and not in the best way things here were going to be just as hard if not harder than they were in the valley. He sighed as he took another sip and looked pensive as he sat near the bar.

Luth slid into a seat near him, ordering the strongest thing fit for human consumption on the menu and taking a drag on a sweet-spicy smelling vaporizing cigarette.

Jax noted a new presence at the bar and looked at the woman, she was unfamiliar which was odd because he definitely would have noticed seeing her before and not just because of her distinctively bright red hair but she was just a beautiful woman. "You new to the camp?" he asked simply though his tone was pretty friendly.

"Well, I got here with everyone else," she replied with a shrug. "I haven't spent much time in the camp, though." Dark blue eyes shifted to focus on him as she turned her head his way.

His lighter blue ones turned to meet hers and his teeth peeked out as his lips curled into a smirk his voice was clear and smooth as he spoke "I figured as much, I would have remembered seeing someone like you around. You republic or another one of the contractors they brought in."

"Republic. SIS," she replied after a swig of the burning liquid. "You?"

Jax let out a little whistle "SIS huh? I'll have to be extra careful around you make sure you aren't using fancy interrogation techniques on me." he said a hint of teasing in his tone "Myself? I am a humble pilot for hire brought into this mess by an old friend."

She smirked. "You'd know if I was."

"Oh yeah? Who brought you onboard?"

Jax quirked up an eyebrow at that "Well I suppose that's a relief then." he said sipping the deep red liquid "Old friend Captain Hurn asked me to come said that the republic could use skilled pilots. Though I haven't had the chance to talk with her much since I've been here."

"That's certainly true... we can always use more good pilots," she replied with a nod. "Haven't met Captain Hurn."

Jax shrugged "I hear she runs a lot of the security operations of the base, I suppose she is a busy woman." he says causally as he leans back in his chair giving the woman a side long glance "So I imagine as an SIS member you've been pretty busy gathering intel for an operation like this."

She nodded. "Yeah, basically. Just got back from that very thing."

"Oh really? anything interesting?" he asked a small half smile on his lips as he took the woman in, she was quite beautiful. "You'd think standing out so much would be a downside for intelligence work. You have a hard face to forget."

"Well, sadly I have to keep my reports to the highers ups." She looked at a lock of her hair for a moment. "Hasn't stopped me so far, at least."

Jax nodded "Of course of course, I didn't have much hope you'd actually tell me anything but ya know whats the harm in asking."So what's your read on this situation we've found ourselves in?" he asked quirking one eyebrow full of curiosity.

She chuckled a little at that, then shrugged. "Could be worse. Less complex than some of the ops I've been involved in."

"I assume you could tell me about those ops but then you'd have to kill me right?" he said his voice playful as he sipped his drink he signaled the bartender for another glass and poured another drink sliding it down to Luth "A good drink is better when its shared with good company." he said simply.

"Something like that," she chuckled. "There's a fact." She accepts the drink takes a sip.

Jax didn't speak immediately. He let the silence stretch a little not minding sitting there for a while just enjoying the slightly sweet and floral taste of his drink. After a few beats he looks back over at Luth "So how does one find themselves in SIS?"

"The Republic rescued me from slavery. I had internal knowledge of the Empire, so I thought intelligence was a natural fit to try and pay them back for that," she replied.

Jax grimaced a bit "Ugh slavery, that's a nasty business. I hate that it even exists anymore, I know far too many people that have had to suffer through it." he said his voice a mixture of disgust and sympathy.

"Yeah..." She nodded in agreement.

His features shifted back and his easy smile settle back in "But we should talk of more happy topics and not get bogged down in the past I guess." he took a drink before continuing "So what do you do besides being a stunning woman of mystery?"

She laughed outright at that. "I'd say I don't even do that. But you know. I read and watch stuff when I have a little free time. I'm not exactly flush with it, so not much in the way of hobbies. You?"

Jax's smirk turned to a grin when he heard Luth laugh not a bad sound he thought to himself as he thought about her question "I try and keep busy, I guess I read when I have down time get games of Pazaak when I can not that I'm amazing at it but it can be a fun way to pass time at a cantina."
