"Free education? Wow, that sounds pretty good." Said the woman with the bare bones education in her life. "Sometimes I'm glad I learned to read." She smirked. "Artistry is not my strong suit. I assume. Never tried it."

She sat down in one of the nearby chairs, and looked wistful. "Sounds like a pretty nice place. Surprised you'd want to leave."

Niall chuckled softly. "If you ever feel like giving it a try, come to Alderaan. I might be biased, but I feel as though there's no better place to try peace in the galaxy."

His expression grew more serious at her question. He didn't sit, but instead leaned casually against the nearby wall, arms folded. "I didn't, especially. I mean, I wanted to see the galaxy, but..." He shrugged, smiling. "If you want to go back to talking about fighting for what you believe in, that was it for me. I wanted to help Alderaan, and the Republic. This..." He started to gesture down at himself, and then realized he wasn't wearing his uniform. "I mean, being in the Republic Military, seemed like the best way."

Sabine listened. "Sounds like a lovely place. Just the kind of place I want more of in the galaxy." She smiled , though a bit self-consciously. "Hrm, well the abs look good too." She teased him a bit. "It does suit you sir. Leadership, I mean. You wear it like few others."

"It is." Niall said. "Come visit sometime. I insist."

He laughed easily, shaking his head. "Well, thank you, sergeant. I have been working out, lately." His expression grew more serious, although his grey eyes were still bright. "And I appreciate that as well." He gave her a nod. "I think you can be a fine leader someday, yourself. I look forward to seeing it."

Sabine smiled. "Well, if you insist sir. And... thank you. That means a lot. Leading scares me, you know? I've always been a follower , or a lone wolf." She shrugged, and honestly had no idea what a wolf is, but still. "It' wasn't an easy adjustment for me."

"I do insist." Niall said, giving her another firm nod.

"Does it?" He frowned, shifting his weight. "Think of it this way. It's just adding one more layer each time. You start off responsible for yourself. When you join a unit, you're responsible for your squadmates. As a sergeant, you're responsible for a squad. You already know you can do it. It's just a question of building a bit more each time."

Sabine let out a laugh. "You make it sound so easy... but I think you're just a natural at it." She smiled. "I'm better at the shooting others part."

Niall laughed softly. "I can't disagree with that. I've seen you in action."

He grimaced delicately, running one hand through his sweaty hair. "I should really go hit the showers. I'm sure we'll talk later, sergeant?"

Sabine smiled, then snorted. "You're still from the noble land, then captain. This isn't an odor. Gamoerreans though? Well, that's an odor. Take care then sir."

Niall shrugged agreeably. He wanted to say that he sweated the same as everyone else... but he probably did smell a bit nicer, actually.

He waved one last time as he headed off towards the showers.
