She nodded and smiled, “That’s why I said be careful. Didn’t say it’s wrong. Just said it ain’t always safe. Even a heartless chick like me would hate to see that pure devotion go to waste. It warms that weird piece of patriotism in my heart that my dad must have snuck in there somewhere when I was a baby. Make whatever life you got count... you only get one.”

Niall chuckled softly. "Fair enough. And true enough." He gave her a nod. "Don't worry. I'll do the best I can to stay alive. Like you said, there are people counting on me."

Once more, he looked curiously at her. "Do you have anything you'd die for?"

She pursed her lips and her eyes strayed off above him as she thought.

“My name... maybe.” She replied after a few moments.

“It’s the only thing I got really... I wouldn’t want to do anything that’d besmirch it. I’d die before I did something I felt to bring shame on the Koor name.”

Slowly, Niall nodded.

"You're very careful with it, aren't you?" His lips quirked. "Come to think of it, I think that's the first time I heard you say it."

“Some people in the Republic don’t know what it means... or think it means something it doesn’t... They’re wrong.” She said with a steely resolve in her voice.

Niall smiled. "I know something about how heavy a name can be." Some days being an Organa weighed on him more than others. Even if was never nervous about bad reactions.

He gave her a nod. "From what I understand, you've been doing good work here. Perhaps the name will mean whatever you say it will."

“The name means more than just that. But I’ll make sure people remember what’s right...”

Niall straightened. "Well then, Ms. Koor, I wish you the best of luck." His lips quirked. "But I don't think you're going to need it. I know determination when I see it."

She shrugged, “Hopefully a stray grenade doesn’t take me out tomorrow.”
