Luth had prepared for this most of the day - showering thoroughly, washing her hair, drying it thoroughly, tying it back. It made sure the scent of cinnamon didn't cling to her body and she wouldn't leave any hairs or DNA behind to implicate her. Laundering her most boring yet concealing clothing made sure it didn't smell like her vape either. Brushed her teeth and washed her mouth out. Carrying gloves in her pocket. She wasn't needed today, so her actions weren't unusual as seen by any individual person she encountered.

Truth be told, she was nervous. This was one of the more dangerous plans she'd decided on. But it had to be subtle. Mysterious murders weren't. Suicide of military personnel? Tragic, but not as unusual as perhaps it should be. Still put her at an unusual amount of risk in the middle of the base. Still, it had to be done. For the sake of those who had cared about her, she needed to do what she could to protect them.

She took a deep breath and headed to Major Vuru's location, trying to minimize the number of people seeing her. The late hour helped.

The man inside the room was in a state of turmoil, deep regrets and anger. Very strong negative emotions permeate his being. The lock does not give, but she notices that the door is unlocked.

It seems like he's distracted, so she slipped her gloves on and opened the door as quietly as possible and slipped in in similar silence. Or she tried, anyway.

The man turned slowly a blaster pistol in hand and a bottle of hard liquor on his desk. He frowned and said, "What the kriff do you want?"

She smiled a little bit, her expression turning sympathetic. Her eyes wander over the bottle. "Well, I was checking to see if you needed any kaff because it seemed like you were working late, but it seems like you have drinks covered," she said, nodding toward the bottle. "You don't look like you're having such a good night."

"I am not, just got a message... my daughter, she and i have been estranged I guess, been trying to make up for it, but she won't meet me," he said looking at the gun.

"She's all I got left."

She came in a little bit further, leaning her head to the side. "You don't have her mother?" She asked gently. "What happened between you that made her feel so strongly?"

He slipped the blaster into his arm pit holster and said, “Not sure why I am telling, but we separated years ago, I made mistakes. I keep making them I guess, and she took my daughter with her, but she passed on two years ago. I was deployed couldn’t make it home for the funeral… not sure my daughter ever forgave me for that.”

“I understand but damn if it don’t tear me up inside.”

She walked over once the blaster was away and leaned against the desk, shrugging. "Sometimes it helps to get it off your chest. I guess I can see it from her perspective... It would probably seem like you loved your work more than her or her mother..." She shook her head. "Can't say I'm not doing something similar, though."

“I was halfway across the Galaxy, even if I took the quickest route home I would have missed the funeral by a few days. Children, no matter how old, don’t always see that some things are beyond our control,” he replied flatly.

“Still burns me up.”

She nodded. "I can see how it would... I don't have kids myself, but there's enough people to judge without understanding that I can imagine," she replied, then glanced over at the bottle. "That why you're over the two drink limit?" She gave a drawn smile.

"Only just a little, say... who are you anyway?" he asked shaking the fog from his eyes.

Luth leaned down toward his ear. "SIS... You have a bug on you. Hold still for just a second while I deal with it," she murmured close to his ear, letting her breath hit it as she slipped the gun out of his shoulder holster without him noticing while her other hand fiddled with the back of his collar as if doing exactly as she claimed.

She slipped the barrel up to his temple and murmured, "Just stay calm..." And, as she drew back, fired.

The blast was loud and Luth dropped the gun quickly, doing her best to make it look like he had and thanking herself that she remembered the gloves - only his prints would be on it.

Someone definitely heard it through the walls, though, and she stepped out of the room, walking calmly around a corner as those who heard the noise came around the corner. They saw her back and shoulder, concealed under her dark jacket, but she disappeared quickly, hurrying in a winding path back to her own room once she'd broken eye contact. Ultimately, whoever had been walking through the halls at night wasn't found, and it likely didn't have much to do with the man's suicide anyway.
