Luth hadn't slept much the previous night. If she'd been able to get ahold of alcohol, she would have spent it drink, but she didn't. Just smoking, her room filling slowly with the scent of cinnamon. Eventually, she opened the encrypted communications and contacted her Fixer, waiting for her to respond.

Fixer-71 formed and said, “Asset, is it done?”

"The target has been eliminated following all orders," she said, setting the vape aside.

"I am relaying the information to the Master, stand by," she said before she moved away from the holo image. She returned quickly and said, "The Master will speak with you."

She nods simply. "Go ahead and patch him through."

Baras appeared with his usual scowl, “Report, I want to know every detail.”

"I prepared by thoroughly ridding myself of the scent I've used to make sure I'm easily identified when it's me publicly. Then I wore dark, bulky clothes to further obscure myself, wore gloves, and tied my hair up. I went to his office late, when I knew by his habits he would have been drinking. Sensing his emotions from the other side confirmed my hypothesis. I got there undetected and he had left the door unlocked. I tried to enter undetected and was caught. He pointed his blaster at me at first, which is good, because it put his prints recent on it. I used my tendency to seem trustworthy to get him talking and to put it away in his shoulder holster. After a few minutes, during which I found out he'd just received a message from his daughter telling him she wouldn't meet with him, I leaned forward and whispered in his ear that I had spotted a bug on him and to hold still while I removed it," she explained. "Then I slipped his own blaster from his holster and shot him in the temple with it. I slipped out, but I was spotted leaving. However, they only saw a bit of my shoulder and back and didn't chase. I don't believe I will receive any suspicion in his death. He committed suicide while drinking after finding out he'd lost what little family he still had is the likely conclusion they'll come to."

“We shall see, if you have failed then you know what fate awaits you,” he responded.

"Yes," she answered simply with a shrug. "Little point in worrying about it in regard to myself at this point. It will work out or not. Did you need anything from me?"

“I have tasks that need doing but nothing pressing in this sector, consider yourself on holiday until I have need of you. Do be ready when I call,” he responded.

"I will," She paused. "I would like to return to the Empire eventually, if you have use you could make of me there."

“You are going to have to explain that reasoning, lest I consider that a soft threat,” he replied grimly.

She nodded calmly. "I understand. First, I've come to believe that my destiny lies with the Empire. I was born there and I only left for a brief period before being sent back, then tried to leave and was pulled back. I can tell which way the wind is blowing even if it wasn't a gale." She looked up and to the side, shaking her head before returning her gaze to him. "Second, quite simply, I want to spend time with friends I don't have to hide everything from. Third, the double agent charade at this scale is wearing; I'm essentially on the job 24/7. Fourth, I actually want to be able to move up and have something to look forward to... so basically, ambition. There are more reasons I could think of, but those are major factors. The fact of the matter is, I find I don't actually mind being your assassin now that I'm less conflicted about doing it. It's just the threats and blackmail I can't say I'm a fan of."

He weighed over her words carefully and then said, “I don’t like to waste good material. Return to Drommund Kaas when this squabble is done, Fixer-71 will see to the details.”

She dipped her head. "I will. Thank you."

"Of course Luth, I value useful assets." The Dark lord reclined and then the call ended.
