Hamelin decides to explore around the new base camp that was set up. It is always best to get familiar with the home terrain in case fighting breaks out here.

Galen was out for a walk himself. It had been a few years since he'd spent extended time in a desert environment. He was still adjusting to the arid heat, as midday drew closer.

"Good morning!" he called out as his path crossed with Hamelin.

Beyond them republic and Resistance personnel were working together to get the base fully operational. Thazos in particular was keen to get his people moved in and setting up an operation to secure the region.

They noticed the Jedi but had a lot of work to get the location up and running.

Hamelin gives polite greetings to the others. He notices the Force sensitive human in the crowd. <Syoick asiun podsfm asuim cpoerm aul culmuimq adop qer asom>
"Good morning. Jedi Knight Hamelin. This new camp is looking lively after we gave the blessings of death at the previous battlefield."

"Galen Sol." he introduced himself. "There's a lot to clean up, but it is looking better."

Hamelin nods at that. <Kcuo asok saip alme hiepcume asin>
"I think I saw you briefly at the first command meeting. What brings you out to Bankor?"

"The contract paid well, and it seemed like a good cause." he shrugged. "Also, the conflict aside, this is a beautiful planet, teeming with life."

Hamelin nods. <Dusoel asdcoe dasdgfo dim poem ascim>
"Ah so you got brought in by the Republic I assume? It is a nice place. Aside from the Mandalorians ruining it."

He looks over Galen. <Usoem cuimer sasdp erfim>
"I thought you may be here as part of your training."

"Well, it was suggested that I come here. But, I'm not sure if that was for training, as a matter of fate or both."

Hamelin nods. <Pcile asune pcome aunv eocm afm comesad>
"So I take it that you have a master you are studying under?"

He nodded. "Master Lyshea Mersl has been kind enough to teach me what she can."

Hamelin's antennae flicker at the recognition of the name. <Fock asdlej asime cpomg gagfo gads emr cimalgm>
"Ah, I have heard that Master Mersi is very patient and compassionate."

"She is. And, I am grateful for her guidance." he nodded. "I worry, sometimes, that it will lead to trouble for her."

"Everything in moderation. Too much of anything leads to something bad. Is that what you mean?"

"Teaching someone outside of the Order, I mean." he answered. "I imagine that some Jedi would object to that."

Hamelin shrugs. <Bzzzt>
"Maybe Master Mersi hops that her pupils will eventually join the Jedi Order. Plus I imagine it is better than letting a Force Sensitive run around with no control over their powers."

"I know she'd like that." he nodded. "And, I know here initial interest in teaching me stemmed from a vision she'd had. I just don't want to cause any issues for her."

Hamelin nods. <Chu>
"Do you have any reason to not join the Jedi Order? Otherwise I don't see any problems."

"Since I was freed, I've lived my life largely independently." he shrugged. "I've worked as part of a crew and taken jobs like this, but that's a matter of contract. I don't belong to anyone or anything. Nor, does the Force. I'd like to develop my relationship with it by studying it from different perspectives, rather than that of one Order."

Hamelin nods at the statement. <Bzzt>
"I can understand wishing to be free. Though that also runs the risk of falling to the Dark Side. Without others. You will only have yourself to rely on."

"That's not true." he shook his head. "It was for a long time, but I no longer isolate myself the way I used to. I understand your meaning and appreciate the idea o0f support and guidance, but that isn't something only the Jedi can provide."

Hamelin ponders that for a moment and then concedes with a nod. <Klik>
"I suppose you have a point there. It is hubris to believe that the Jedi are the only ones. Still I hope if you ever find yourself in need. The Jedi will be there to help. So please do not overlook that resource."

"I won't." he assured the Jedi. "I may prefer my freedom, but I do appreciate the ideas behind the Order and it's Code."

Hamelin nods and then asks. <Chirt>
"What is your take on the battle so far? Do you have any plans after this is over?"

"The Mando's are using some vicious tactics." he sighed. "It isn't surprising, but it's clear this will be bloody. I think the Republic will prevail, though. And, afterward? I'm not sure yet. There's more out there for me to learn."
