Bankor

The small creature eyed the plate of food with interest, more interest than Galen did. He took a few vegetables and fed them to Navi. They weren't fresh, but the little animal didn't seem to mind. His human companion wasn't as satisfied, however. The food wasn't bad, but it was a bit bland. Hopefully, there would be better meals on Bankor, but that didn't seem likely.

A short distance away diagonally across the table a young woman spied the pair and smirked slightly while holding her fork in one hand.

"Your buddy looks pleased with the food selection. You less so... You don't look like a Republic soldier. What're ya? A tracker?"

The one thing the mess hall did was coffee, and that was what Garth needed. His current sleep pattern was...erratic to say the least and a good cup of the steaming liquid would see him through till the drop.

Spotting a few others in the vicinity he offered them a kindly smile and nod before helping himself to his beverage.

Delmi nodded in return and said loud enough for both of them, "See? This boy here looks like a Republic soldier."

"Fer now," Garth acknowledges the comment with a brusque reply.

"In a few hours I might be looking like a smear of jam on the ground. Any of us might." He adds with a casual shrug.

"Ensign Garth Wayne. Spitfire Pilot."

"Delmi." She said with a slight nod of her head.

Galen nodded. "I'm a hunter. Or a scout, I suppose."

"This is Navi." he added, gesturing to the creature. "I'm Galen, Galen Sol."

Slinging his backpack on a nearby table, Garth throws his leg over one of the chairs and sits down before drinking deeply from his tin mug.

"Never could eat before a mission." He comments before noticing that Delmi didn't have any Republic markings on her outfit.

"Y'all ain't regulation forces are ya." He said bluntly.

She shook her head, "Nope. Just here out of the goodness of my heart."

"I'm not looking for a carreer, but I am willing to do the job." the other man shrugged.

Lifting his mug in a pseudo toast, he smiles broadly.

"Here's to them what fight for what's right then. Thanks."

"What're they payin' ya?" Delmi asked as she chewed on some food.

"Less than my standard rate, but I have some other interests on Bankor." he replied.

"Anything we can help with? Only seems fair since y'all are hepin' us."

"Honestly, I don't know." he shook his head. "A friend told me I was meant to be here and that I would find something I've been looking for. It's all vague and a bit crazy, but I trust her."

"She uhh... one of those mystic jedi type ladies?" Delmi asked.

Garth nods along with the conversation.

"Sounds like." He agrees with no real expertise. "Lots o' advice, not many answers."

"Yep." He nodded. "A bit strange, but she hasn't misled me. I needed the work, regardless."

"Sounds like a happy coincidence then. Fat paycheck to investigate a personal matter you'd have looked into anyway? Universe is lookin' out fer ya. No doubt about it."

"Hopefully, it will look out for all of us." He raised his cup.

"Ah'll fer sure drink to that." Garth agreed and matched the gesture.

Delmi nodded and took a sip of her water.

"So y'all been in a big engagement like this before?"

Garth nods, his mood a little more sombre.

"Tail end o' the Outer Rim Massacre. Skies over Tattooine were taking a pounding. That's when I was promoted from convoy driver to starfighter pilot. Wasn't half as fun as it looked in the recruitment posters."

"Not like this." he shook his head. "But, I've been in some tight spots."

Delmi nodded, "I've always been a lot more... 'focused'... myself. This many folks all shooting randomly at once is new. Trained for it as a kid, was a part of a defense force for my planet... but Brentaal IV was relatively lucky when I was there."
