The Aznari were a curious bunch, they had invited the resistance to come and visit, to understand them better. The curious nature of Rekara got the best of her. There were strange situations between both groups, the Mon Cal could sense it, the martial group was a dangerous bunch, was the sense that she got, so she did not persist in proving more. Instead she just stayed to watch.

It seemed the entire Republic force was engaging with these monks in this forest. Veeone computed that it should as well. Many Republic troopers and allies were doing the strange 'wear less clothes and stare into space' after talking to the monks. Again Veeone followed the theme. It removed its grenade harness and stood staring into space. The rain pounded down, bouncing off the blue markings and metallic finish of its armour plate. The glow in its ocular slits narrowed as the irises whirred to narrow field of vision. It did not move. The processing was deep.

Beep.

"This does not compute!!!!!"

In an attempt to open the droid to the wider universe the monks then encouraged it forward to an area of red hot coals. This time Veeone did not hesitate. It moved straight forward across the coals at rapid speed. The heat did not bother it. Neither did the inclement weather. It reached the other side in record time.

Only then did the monks realise the droid had stamped on every coal it could find.

"Combustion threat to arborial environment eliminated. Open fires are dangerous in such a tree rich area. Veeone recommends stricter fire safety protocols going forward. Roger, roger."

In its own Droid Way . . . it had understood.

Durasay had prepared himself for the trial of the Anzuri Monks. Stepping into the demonstration area, his cyan hued flesh exposed to the harsh elements and the rain, save for the trunks he wore. He looked to the monks as he felt the rain washing over his body, his white mop of hair now falling into his face. Nodding, it was a silent communication, before he moved into a meditative pose, onto his knees, his hands resting on his thighs. Even battered by the rain, feeling the sting against his flesh, his commanding presence allowed him to keep his cool, the fortress of his mind secure in the Force, as he found himself mentally ready for the trials to come. The peace of the moment moving through him, Durasay stood.

Many tests stood before the tall Pantoran. A slight smirk as he looked at the ice box. That almost seemed to be childs play to the man, as his own physiology would allow him to endure that without too much effort. But that also meant he really wouldn’t be pushing himself, or looking to impress these beings. Then, he could feel it, that tug. A ripple in the Force, it called his attention, as if something else was reaching for him. Following that feeling, he knelt before one of the Anzuri Tattoo Artists. He was silent, as he lowered his head, allowing the rain to keep beating down on him, before the first sting of the traditional needle punctured flesh. He could feel the venom flowing through his body, the agony, the searing pain lighting every nerve cluster like the console of a starship. He closed his eyes, trusting in the Force.

Something was different. He no longer felt the rain. Or the heat. The pain was still there, yet there was a new sensation. Heat. From a fire. Opening his eyes, Durasay wasn’t where he had been. It was nighttime, somewhere, he couldn’t quite place it. Looking up, beyond the fire, ziggurats rose above the treeline, ancient pyramids casting a shadow over the clearing he found himself in. Another stabbing shot of pain on his back, he remained on his knees, until, that pricking sensation at the base of his neck. That feeling he had not felt since…

“Lord Bellious… is that you?” His words were barely above a whisper, and he dared not turn, was this just a hallucination from the ink? Was it merely his mind collapsing on him, and losing his connection to the Force?

"Yes. And no. My will manifests in you through the Force. It is bringing you to the very place I have been truly born to the Force. In the thicket, in the mirage, amid great nowhere coated in peril. Under a watchful gaze of a power you don't comprehend. At the roots of the primal fear that reminds us we cannot alienate the animal in us. The hunter and the hunted."

The Pantoran had listened to her voice, through her music, their communications. But in this, that arcane connection, was something new entirely. A slight lurch forwards as he felt the stabbing of more venom into his flesh. "Then this place is tied to the other. Savage and all consuming?" He turned his head slightly, before feeling a push that forced him to face forwards again. "The Force drew me to this mission, Master. The conflict. It is strong here. Stronger than I have ever felt before."

"Thrive on it, the confluence of fear and desire toward the alien, unforgiving environment, the density of life that bares its cruelty. There are apex predators lurking beyond your vision, but they do not expect YOU." The emphasis rang, indicating his true self. "Find your adaptation, their weakness. Contaminate them with fear, feed on their anger until the roles reverse. Nowhere else will you realise with such acuity that life is not a right, it is the privilege of the powerful."

The poison coursed through his vains, and he could feel the pain moving down his arms. His teeth gnashing as he listened, fingers digging into his skin as he gripped against the agony that lit his senses in a conflagration. "Their anger makes me strong, my Lord. My will is strong, and my intentions are direct. I have already begun exerting my authority upon my enemy." His posture straightened. "This is a crucible of dominance."

"Indeed you have, in agony and in conflict you shall find the undying fount. Drink from it like your body is drinking the poison, making it a part of you. Power is everywhere, waiting for you to tap into it."

"The Force is my strength, my power, Master. As we speak, I can feel myself drawing closer to it, and using it as I see fit. Your teachings have only focused it. Already, I have begun to see glimpses of what will be, what I can change to my ends. This poison will only give me strength, the pain temporary. Using it to bring myself more fully in control." There was a flash of something in his words, as he looked to the fire before them. "I will return to you a juggernaut, Lord Bellious. In both of will and of strength. And these chains will be broken before you." A test of limits against her, he could feel it. He welcomed that challenge to his own goals. Yet the man also relished this feeling of her, through the Force, whether it was truly her or merely a manifestation. "And you will find me worthy of your will."

"See to it that you accomplish this." While curt, her tone seemed to be carrying the slightest whiff of affection.

"There is only accomplishment, my Master. Anything less is unacceptable. And liable to lead to my end. Those are things I would rather avoid. That would get in the way of everything." His lips curled in a smile at the haze of the moment, of that slight feel of something more than just master and apprentice, that vision, or transubstantiation or place, seemingly all there was. It was beginning to fade, though. He could start to feel the rain coming upon him again, or was it beginning to rain on this other, hostile world? "The Force is with us. I can feel it. To bring our vision of Freedom and order. All will be as the Force, and ourselves, wills it."

Durasay’s eyes went wide, as he felt the rain crashing down on him once more. He wasn’t in the verdant moon of the red gas giant. He hadn’t ever left. She wasn’t there, and he wasn’t entirely sure what had been spoken or seen really had happened. Yet, he could feel that strengthening through the Force, as the artist finished their task. They had gone far beyond just his back. His shoulders, around to his chest, and moving down his arms, were now transcribed with the esoteric markings the order used. Bold, harsh lines, and script written in a language that he wasn’t familiar with, yet knew their meaning through the Force. Had this been the means through which he had spoken with her? Yet he didn’t even see her, but he knew that it had been her. Though it had brought conflict, this was the path he had been set on.

And he would master it.

It was rainy and dreary out, and often muddy as well. It was really only this last thing that Illyria really disliked. Her footwear was practical, despite what others in her profession often opted for out of a sense of fashion, but normally the trade meant that she at least was guaranteed of sure footing the mud broke that contract somewhat, and it chafed her. She wasn't really sure what she felt about the Anzuri, but decided to engage with their traditions so she could at least capture it images of their traditions for a mini-documentary or something.... she wasn't sure what.

When the monks offered her the challenge of sitting in an ice box, she agreed. More eagerly than she should have, maybe, but a stint in the ice box would do wonders to let her relax in something that felt more like home. Mostly though, it would get her out of the mud and rain.

Meditating in the rain was not something Niall had any difficulty with. He'd stood guard in the rain any number of times during training. And he'd certainly been in circumstances less conducive to good meditation. Dressed only in his regulation undergarments, his new fitness showing, Niall appeared tranquil.

When it came time to enter the box, though...

It wasn't the cold. It was the memories. How like a kolto tank this felt. Cut off from the rest of the world. Except instead of warm kolto, it was icy cold. Like death.

Niall exited quickly, shaken and disturbed.
