"Mmmm... Maybe more then a little then." There was a momentary pause. "She shot you some." He was probably teasing.

"Alright, I'll talk to Claire." He gave Niall a playful wink. "That lady loves me you know, shes bound to help out." That was likely a lie.

"Well, you know that drink is available should you ever want it, just come on by."

Niall scoffed, chuckling even as he did so. "I'm sure she does." He said dryly.

His expression became more serious. "Thank you, Z. For all the help you've given me. On everything." He smiled. "Even dance lessons. You're a good friend. If there's ever anything you need, I hope you know that you only have to ask."

The smile grew, becoming a touch wry. "So perhaps I will stop by for a drink sometime." Looking at Z, his eyebrows went up. "I remember you told me that you'd share more of your story, but only over a few drinks. Does that offer still hold?"

Z's mind was still working on the project at hand. "can you see if that Camera catches Audio as well, it could give us a better timeline. We might want to interview others that shared the barracks room as well. If he had a habit of leaving his door open they will know. Other then that, see if they did a autopsy, We want to confirm that the wound was self inflicted, that the angel was right, that the blaster was found in the correct hand." Z smirked. "Maybe the guy was a lefty."

"But I'll remember that Niall, and of course you can come by for that drink." His lips curled into a smile. "I'll answer some of those questions of yours. Though you've likely stumbled across a few of them already.

"There was an autopsy." Niall said dryly. "It confirmed that he was killed by a blaster shot to the head." He sighed. "If I'd been given this case earlier, I'd have asked Cole to look into it. Although I worry that he has too much already. He worked himself into a collapse, treating people, you know."

"Some." Niall agreed. He hesitated a moment, lips pursing. "But I also respect your privacy. I have access to files, but I make it a point never to read a friend's file without permission. No matter how curious you make me." That last brought a smile to Niall's lips as well.

"I hadn't heard.. but he seems the type." Cole was an interesting fellow at times. "Lucky us I suppose, do you want me to see if I can get anyone who shared his Barracks to talk?" His lips curled into a smirk. "You can even put me in a uniform on the temporary if it helps. That's a bit underhanded though.'

"That's nice of you." His lips quirked into a teasing smile. "Though I should admit I read your file even before I met you, so if you want to peek inside it would only be fair."

"Still maybe tomorrow, or the day after, we can find some time?"

Niall flashed Z a quick grin. "Alas, it seems you've already seen through my cunning plan to get you back in to the Republic." He chuckled softly. "Seriously, though, that offer still stands."

"Did you, now?" One of Niall's eyebrows went up. "That's another thing I've avoided doing." He pursed his lips thoughtfully for a moment. "Did you find it helpful? Enlightening?"

"There are some problems there, some you'd likely come across if you read that file... We can talk about them though, when the time comes." Whenever that might be. "Either way I'm not quite sure I fit anymore, and blue isn't really my color. But, I'll think about it."

"They tend to give you a little insight into a person, I find it's much better to just meet someone though." A frown made it's way onto his lips. "Files are a bit cold, clinical, I don't think they ever tell the full story."

"Alright. Good enough." Niall nodded, a hint of a smile on his lips. That would serve as an answer both to talking about it sometime, and the question of him rejoining the Republic.

Again, Niall nodded. "Quite. They never quite tell the whole story, do they?" His lips quirked. "Although I fancy they nearly do with mine. There may be a few surprises when one actually meets me, but I expect that my file gives a fairly good idea of what to expect."

He looked at Zane, one eyebrow going up. "I suspect the same is not true of your file."

"Suppose that has a lot to do in what exactly is in my file." Zane mused. "I can it doesn't tell a very honest story though." Things left out, bit of pieces of him from different time in the surface. "Leaves more questions then answers."

He brought a hand up to his chin. "There is one other things about that video Niall, somethign a bit off? Luth was wearing gloves, and a jacket... If we can trust the time stamp on that camera there was no rain that night... So why the extras?" He raised up his gloved hands. "I mean I always wear gloves and a jacket, but with how humid that Jungle was, I was probably the only one."

"Hmmm." Niall smirked. "Suppose I'll just have to take the offer of a few drinks, then."

As the conversation turned back to Luth, Niall frowned. "I don't know. Perhaps she was just being cautious. Why do you always wear gloves, anyway?"

He shrugged. "I'm having T7 confirm about the man's daughter. This really could all be a coincidence. Especially since Luth is Force sensitive; that tends to compound coincidences, in my experience."

"Yes, especially when you make friends with Sith Lords." Zane's said, his tone dripping sarcasm, though his lips curled into a smile. "Sorry, Niall. I just don't believe in coincidences."

"Me? I wear gloves so it doesn't seem unusual when I do wear gloves." That was the simple explanation. "And if you haven't noticed I don't like people knowing about me, that includes where I've been."

Niall raised both of his hands, palms out. "I know, I know." He sighed. "I'm inclined to give her the benefit of the doubt. But I won't let that stop me from doing my due diligence, I assure you."

Niall's eyes flickered down, looking at Z's gloved hands for a moment, before they flickered back to Z's face. "I see." He said softly.

After a few moment, he smiled, just a little. "That does sound rather suspicious. And yet, I'm inclined to trust you. And I don't think I'm mistaken in doing so." His lips quirked. "I suppose you've proven yourself enough times that a few odd habits doesn't matter."

"Your choice on that." Z offered with a easy smile. He wasn't going to try and change the Captains mind, time would or it wouldn't.

That causes a soft laugh to toll from Z's lips. 'If I recall I'm fond of telling you, that you trust me too much, Niall. Shortly followed by how I'm not that nice of a guy. But,you'll form your own opinions on the matter, and I doubt anything I can tell you can change your mind."

A grimace acknowledged the first part; this was an investigation he wasn't especially looking forward to.

"You have told me that before." Niall said, frowning. "I don't quite understand why, I admit. Is this something I'd find out if I read your file? Or maybe if we shared those drinks?"

"Not sure if it's in the files." Zane said with a wry smile. "It might come out if we share those drinks though."

After a moment, Niall gave Z a slow nod. "Very well. We'll see about that sometime, then."

He sighed, weary, his shoulders rising and falling noticeably. "Well. Anything else going on? I don't suppose Hurn has sent you any nasty letters or anything, has she?" His lips twisted. "I keep checking my logs, expecting something. I suppose I just want an explanation for why she did what she did."

"Mmmm..." His lips quirked into a half smile. "There is a bit of something... It involves our resident Mandoorian psychopath." Z said after a moment, he wasn't sure how much he should tell Niall, but he should clue him in on a few things.

Niall's lips quirked as well. "Could you be more specific?" He sighed. "I'm guessing you mean Eralynn, though. Go ahead."

[Zanebry Varliss]

"I think she was being manipulated... Though I haven't put it all together. Too many missing pieces." a frown made it's was ont his lips. "There was a man though, Orar Varad... I think he pushed her in this direction. He gave her men like Melv, and Malto brin to use as she might wish. I think he riled her up, set her in a direction and let her loose like some rabid animal."

"I see." Niall frowned, considering. "To what end? A weapon of terror against the Republic? Orar Varad, so Clan Varad."

He chewed his lip. "Most of what Eralynn has done is make this war significantly more violent than it would otherwise have been. Was this Orar Varad trying to goad us into atrocities?"

[Zanebry Varliss]

"Perhaps... I don't know his end game really." Z offered with a frown. "Other then to strike against the Republic, weaken it." his eyes drifted to Niall. "Hurt our leaders."

"I just don't really think he's a Mandolorian, he's far too manipulative for that, and he'd be here if the story he told everyone was true."

[Niall Organa]

Niall swallowed. "Zane..." He said, speaking slowly. "Are you suggesting that some of these things that have happened have been psychologically targeting our leaders? That Melv was recruited as some sort of psychological assault on me?"

He was silent for a moment. But not doubting. Thinking.

"Who do you think he is?" Niall asked grimly.

"I am." Zane offered with a nod. "You're a pretty public figure after all Niall, it wouldn't be out of the question for you to be targeted, and Orar went out of his way to free Melv specifically, and the only thing of note that man has ever did was hurt you and your family."

"As to who, my instincts say the Empire, though I have no proof. It's just the only thing that makes sense... The Clever man has no real interest in you, and I believe the Sith have been involved in several incidents here. The Death of that specialist, that girl Leila that was killed... Now Luth. Heck I even recall hearing about a empire station that may have been found on this planet. though we didn't look into it." There was also the matter of doctor Rexa, but he didn't want to bring that up.

"I can't think of anyone else who has anything to gain from this."

Niall grimaced. One finger tapped thoughtfully against his chin for a few moments. "It's a disturbing thought, to say the least. And a bit far-fetched. But... that doesn't mean that I doubt it. Why else Melv? As you said, he's only done one thing in his life."

One eyebrow went up. "You heard correctly." Trying to keep things from a detective was a lost cause. "It does sound rather like the Empire. And I'm not surprised to hear that they wouldn't be able to resist involving themselves in something like this."

He frowned. "Luth isn't a Sith, though."

"I wasn't calling her one, Niall. But if she was responsible for this man's death, there is really only one explanation why. Someone ordered her to, and it could be that Sith friend of hers. " He grit his teeth. "She's force sensitive, that leaves her open to certain types of influences."

"We'll cross that bridge when we find out if she is responsible though." He sighed. "Right now we're probably best served talking about how the Empire might be trying to destabilize the Republic in preparation for another offensive."
