[Day 3, LM] The tools are dead, long live the tools

Well they'd saved the city, most of it anyway, but someone had paid the ultimate price. Actually something. Of course to a mechanic his tools were like an old friend, assembled over a lifetime, so it was sad to see them go. There wasn't time to mope around though, things needed to be repaired.

Rav walked through the city streets looking for a store he could buy some parts from. It must have been the first time most of these shops had been open since the occupation began, they'd probably appreciate the trade.

“It’s good to see the people able to live again,” Sara said. “It almost feels normal if not for… well…”

She glanced at a flaming speeder and a ruined building. She sighed and said, “Things will get better.”

Rav nodded, there was an intense look in his eyes as he looked around, matching his old friend's pace.

"Yeah. I'm just glad I could help. Felt like nothing we did on Balmorra ever lasted. I won't let that happen here too."

He looked across at Sara. "Sorry I was out so long..."

“You were in a coma, not sure how you could help that,” she said waving it off.

"Yeah. Well. If you can call that an excuse..." He gave her a toothy grin. "Sleeping on the job, I'll never live it down."

The people were wandering around their town starting to rebuild. "So. You wanna fill me in on the last year... Or however many it's been. Coma and all that..."

A familiar truck came around the corner, operated by an ancient droid while the owner was busy working in the back. Once parked the dutyful R-5 informed the jedi techie that they had arrived

''Thanks R-5, you are precious" She needed a break anyway so she happily jumped out the truck to find that thermal cloak she would most definitively need.

"Not much to tell, but if you really want to know, shoot... other then I decided to go after the Mandos myself," she replied.

"Yeah, I really wanna know. You signed up with the Resistance here. That's cool, I hope they appreciate it. Did you find out what happened to our guys, or are you still lookin'?" Rav waved over when he saw the Baesal mobile, but he didn't approach.

“Partly why I came here, I was following up on an invitation but well.. the Mandos punched his ticket before I landed so I felt obligated to stay. Poor Hicks… finally got a line on Yancy, tied up in a mess at Garig Port Town,” she responded.

"No shit? Yancy's on Bankor?!" Rav shook his head and smiled faintly. "That nerfhugger still owes me for his insane bar tab after the medal ceremony. The hell is he doing here?"

He looked her in the eye. "Of course you know this means we gotta go there."

“Guess he has family here, or a girl… I am not sure,” she said and nodded in agreement.

“Well it’s actually not bad from what I hear run by a pirate syndicate, since the Mandaos took over.”

Rav wracked his brain trying to remember, but he was still missing too much from that period. He shrugged.

"Sure, could be. I don't remember anyone ever talking about Bankor before but I got weird gaps up here now." A long finger tapped the side of his head. "Pirates huh? Got to be better than these Mandos. How do you wanna play it then Sarge?"

“Neither did I, guess some people figured they would never have to come back here. I mean no one cared about Bankor until the Mandos showed up, well I guess besides the people that lived here,” she said honestly.

"Yeah, true. Probably wouldn't have given it a second thought. But then I got your message, and I heard it was Kryze again." He growled. "Only this time they're calling the shots. No one deserves those bastards."

"Yeah, hoping they'll just be a bloody memory soon."

Rav turned his attention to the street. "Don't suppose you know anyone around here who I can buy some parts from do ya? Need to replace my tools and I bet some folks here could use the creds."

“There is a trader not far from here, does right by the Resistance, well he did, hopefully he is still kicking,” she said gesturing in that direction.

Rav looked off towards where the shop was and started moving that way. "Sounds like a good place to start."

As they walked his attention was drawn to the battle damage on the buildings and the shock of the citizens. People were ambling around taking stock.

"Resistance got any decent engineers?"

“They have earnest people, very few of them were soldiers or military techs, most are fisherman or students… now fighting a war few will see through to the end,” she replied flatly.

“Why? You looking to compare notes?” she asked.

The Shistavanen gave her one of his patented "I don't have much patience for that tone" looks that Jenkins had become so used to. It was like his signature style these days.

"Maybe I can train up some keeners for ya Sarge. Mandos keep blowing shit up or booby trapping it you're gonna need more than lovable ol' Rav to keep things runnin'."

“If you are willing to volunteer the time, I am sure we can find some locals who could benefit from the knowledge,” she responded.

"Works for me. Give something back to the community an all." He seemed happier with that response.

"Okay, let's go find that trader. I need parts and a heavy hydrospanner."

“Sure,” she said following along.

“I won’t stand between you and your toys, just go easy on these folks. They have been through well hell and war. The Kryze have not been kind, bunch of bastards,” she said bitterly.

"Don't worry, I'm not trying to fleece anyone. You know I came here to help free Bankor from those assholes, right? I'm freakin' delighted you're alive, but I woulda come anyway."

He walked up to the dilapidated shop front and gingerly tried the door. It looked like either the door or the shop might collapse without a bit of work.

"Hey, anyone home? Your primary supports need bracing."

The proprietor said hello from inside, a hunched over zabrak woman of venerable age.
