Event Type: Campaign Objective
Power Cost: 0
Participants: 3 players
Timeslots: Late Morning

Description: Senator Saresh has backed the mission and the strike force has gone to great lengths to extract a VIP, a powerful business magnate that was held under house arrest by Hosue Kryze. After a vicious fire fight they got the VIP to safety or so they thought but as the Republic transport was speeding back to the Republic Base it was struck with an ground to air weapon and sent the craft careening out of control!

Now you have to survive and get back to the base.

Rules: This event will take multiple threads to complete.

The players once in are part of the transport crew; the event begins with the crash. This requires a Hard Resilience check with a setback die, failure on this roll will incur a Critical Injury they will also need to soak 10 wounds as well from the crash.

Water

From the crash the players are able to salvage 20 units of water. Each time slot they have to use 2 units of water per person including the VIP. If they refrain from water in a time slot they add a setback die to their actions, second time they get a setback and increase the difficulty by one. Third time they collapse from lack of water unless they succeed at a Daunting Resilience or Survival check. The VIP will die if they don’t get water in every time slot. Droids do not need water.

Aid the VIP

The VIP will incur this damage as well and has a broken leg from the crash. They will need a Medicine check at Hard to allow them to travel but if the damage is extensive so any time this check is done they cannot proceed forward to the base unless a Triumph is rolled on this check or Five advantage.

If the VIP is not aided, then increase the difficulty of all checks in this event by one, so Average checks become Hard. They can leave the VIP behind, but this will generate Conflict for Jedi/Force Users.

Pathfinding

It will take at least three time slots to get back to the Republic Base, each slot a Survival or Outer Rim check at Average with 2 setbacks due to heat and one setback due to the pursuit of the Mandalorian forces. If a Triumph or 5 Advantages are rolled then they can make a second roll to guide the team back home this can happen multiple times, a total of three successful checks needs to be made to get back safely. Seek can also be used but it will take 3 time slots to get back with a successful usage of the Power.

Cover the Tracks

Someone will need to make sure the Mandalorians can’t follow their trail. This will take an Average Stealth or Skullduggery check each time slot. If this roll is failed or not attempted then the next time slot the Mandalorian forces catch up and every Player will need to make a Resilience, Combat Skill check, or Athletics at Average difficulty or take 3 wounds (Cannot be Soaked).

What do your Eyes See

Someone has to play lookout, this is a Perception check at Hard, this is optional but if successful whoever is Covering the tracks receives a free upgrade to their roll.

Water must Flow

A player can search for extra water, each time slot one player can make a check to find water. This is a Survival check at Hard for clean water, or Average for dirty water. Finding water will grant them enough water for all to be satisfied. If the water is Dirty then the players take 5 strain in that time slot.

Each player can only make one Check per time slot. This event starts in the Late Morning, create a new thread for each set of rolls in the desert. As a standard each 2 advantage may grant the next ally a boost die, and 2 Threat grant a setback die, these carry over from thread to thread.

Rewards/Outcome: See Below. Gain 7 Victory Points if the VIP survives.

Trust Modified: No change.
Power Modified: If the VIP is returned increase Power by 6.
Duty Earned: Increase Duty by 10.

“Well I think my leg is broken… well don’t that just beat all,” the old Ithorian groaned as tried to move a piece of slag metal from crushing his leg.

OOC: Injured with a broken leg.

OOC: Those in the event can spend Destiny as if it is a combat thread, in that spirit spending 3 Destiny for the time slot to upgrade the difficulty for each player.

Aran had been in the cockpit when the trouble started, being very good about not jostling the pilot's elbow, but eager through the trip to watch them fly their military-grade machine. He wished he could claim that he had felt the attack coming through the force, but the first sign was frantic beeping and lights from the control surface, and the pilot's strained call to strap in.

He had crashed a swoop bike before, but the sheer mass of the vehicle was terrifying as it impacted the sands of Rygor. When it came to a stop, he wasn't sure whose blood it was on his new temperature-resistant cloak...

Ooc: as the roll says, this needs +1eD or +1eC, depending on what's getting upgraded.

Resilience vs crash (needs +1eD or +1eC): 2eA+2eD+1eS 2 successes, 2 threat
ImageImageImageImageImage

If +1eD: total 2 success 4 threat
If +1eC: total 1 success 2 threat 1 despair

She had been sent on this mission as a technical specialist and hacker. It had been a hard mission but they had made it out in one piece. She was thinking back on her vision when it started.

There was an ear blowing sound, then there was fire and twisted metal everywhere. Everything happened in a flash, the explosion, the horrible drop and the violence of the impact in the sea of sand.

Sacrifice resilience roll, destiny flip: 1eP+1eD+1eC+1eS 0 successes, 1 advantage

Critical roll, Sacrifice drop: 1d100 65

Ashla somehow made it out of the crash fairly unscathed.

Resilience: 1eA+3eD+1eS 1 success, 3 threat

As she gets out of the wreckaged, she makes her way to the VIP. She immediately begins to get to work.

Ashla's mastery of the body is impeccable.

Medicine Boost From Physician's Kit+Destiny Both Waysa: 2eA+2eP+1eB+2eD+1eC 5 successes, 2 threat, 2 Triumph

Threat: 1eS 1 failure

((Two Triumphs means we definitely can move this turn.))

Baesal tried to get up from where she had been ejected but found it incredibly difficult. The earth was sky and earth again...and would continue for a moment until they settled down.

Still the young Togruta was not quite solid on her feet and had some difficulty walking straight

''Is everyone allright?'' she called before fully comprehending the situation but when she did, she did not waste time.

She knelt by the wreckage, the sun ascending before her. She put her right hand down in front of her to grab a small handful of warm sand raising it to her face.

The young padawan then closed her eyes and blew the sand in the air to let her sight be carried away with them on the wind. The southern winds picked it up at first raising it high above before leaving it to its western sibling which carried it finally over the Republic base camp.

She opened her eyes again before taking a stim pack

''I know where to go''

OOC: Because of the second Triumph the VIP can enhance the Seek with a little known but safe route, reduce threads needed to two threads.

Aran, shaken but unscathed, helped as he could in scavenging from the crash. He helped pick out of the wreckage (and, in the case of an emergency storage locker, jimmy open to retrieve) water, food, an improvised travois for the three Padawans to trade off while carrying the wounded Ithorian, and other sundries. Ythoknis, at least, seemed to be in little pain, meaning that they could move as brisk a pace as they could manage without worrying about jostling him.

A burst fuel line meant that the choice of whether or not to take time to bury the dead was a burden taken from them, as was the option to linger too long at the crash site. As they walked away over the dunes, a plume of oily black smoke rose from their point of origin. When it was not his turn to pull their charge, Aran saw to both their footprints and the long furrow the travois left. He stripped to the waist under his thermal cloak and used his robes, with some heavy pieces of metal from the wreckage, as a weighted broom to try and level the sand behind them, which he alternated with ranging to the left and right of their path leaving false trails. With luck, they would move from the eponymous black sand on to a badland soon, whose rocky ground would hold prints less well.

Whenever Aran was nearby sweeping tracks, or it was his turn to pull, he spared what breath he could to keep a conversation going between their charge and the others to keep his and everyone's spirits up -- genuine interest combined with worry about his health. Aran asked about his life, his business, the mission he had just gone on; his fellow Padawans of their life in or before the Order, their Masters, their training.

Cover tracks 1 (sullduggery): 2eP+2eA+1eS+1eC+1eD 3 successes, 1 advantage

Can I use the advantage for some sort of insight about him?

Once in movement Baesal took the look out

"Errr?"

Aran can tell the ithorian business magnate is tough he does not seem to show the pain he is in but he also senses some surprise at how afar the Republic is going to save him even with his stance on the Republic.

It may be giving him second thoughts.

Meanwhile Baesal climbs to the top of a dune and only then sees a Mandalorian armored vehicle coming over a distant dune, the cannon fires and sails past her exploding in the distance with force! Just as she sees several more vehicles in pursuit she sees the ground around the Mandalorians explode as several Spitfires swoop in from the sky buying the team time to make their escape.

OOC: Took the liberty to use the Triumph. Republic success!

"All clear rescue team Alpha, see you back at base." Comes the communication from one of the pilots, before he zooms off into the distance.

Aran smiled and commed back. "May the Force be with you, Black Four."

That was not the end of their troubles, however. Drawn by the fire, the Mandalorians were hot on their trail, pursuing mounted, on foot, and with jetpacks.

Cover tracks 2 (skullduggery): 3eP+1eA+2eD 0 successes, 1 advantage
ImageImageImageImageImageImage

1 advantage to keep the VIP safe? Pass an advantage to another PC? It that was already assured, I dunno. More insights of some kind!

Combat roll, if Ddog wanted to upgrade, drop the last difficulty die to replace with a challenge:

Holding off Mandos in the desert cutscene: 1eP+3eA+2eD 2 successes, 1 advantage
ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Uh, same thing with advantage as last one.
