Azura ignored the temptation however, instead moving over to where Jax was and tossing her shovel down.

"Does this machinery require repositioning, Specialist Devaroo?"

The droid had barely put the thing down and was now asking where it went next.

"Thanks Veeone. Can you please put it back on the truck while I get some more readings on this aquifer?" He pulled out a few tools and started scraping away at the rock layers.

With a loud whirr of servos the purifier was picked up again and moved back to the waiting transport truck. After which the battledroid returned to his primary configuration by reclaiming his heavy weaponry and explosives.

Niall couldn't help but laugh. "Well... good work everyone. I can certainly think of worse outcomes."

Baesal was not sure if she ought to be pissed or enjoyed

"Not at all." Niall said cheerfully. "If we hadn't done it, the spring never would have been found."

He spread his hands. "As for the rest of it... perhaps we'll just call it an exceptionally grueling team-building exercise."

[Dr. Cole Ormont]

Cole, a short distance away, applying a splint to a fractured wrist, frowned slightly. A mixed blessing at best, finding a water source at a temporary camp. There’d be an almost equal amount of hard work tomorrow, if anyone intended to actually tap the water source with a proper well or scoop.

He was thankful he’d missed most of it. The life he’d saved had been more than worth that.

Niall looked around at the trenches they'd dug. "Oh, good." He said. "Sounds like it was for a very good reason, then."

His lips quirked. "Besides, I happen to like team building exercises."

Jax had a rueful grin "i guess if some good came of it i suppose i wont resent it too much. I guess at least i dont need to go to the gym tonight."

Niall chuckled at that. "Indeed not. Although I doubt that digging trenches will become a popular alternative."

He walked over, offering the shirtless man a hand. "Niall Organa. It's a pleasure to meet you."

[Dr. Cole Ormont]

Finished with his patient, Cole stood and stretched his back. Shading his eyes, he slowly scanned the work area under the pretence of seeking out his fellow healers, or his next patient. Most of the men who’d been working were shirtless, those who weren’t mostly sported undershirts, their clothes adhering to their sweat-drenched skin.

Some volunteers were filling jugs at the new spring, and Cole availed himself of one, moving about to offer cups of water to the exhausted workers.

Niall chuckled at that. "Indeed not. Although I doubt that digging trenches will become a popular alternative."

He walked over, offering the shirtless man a hand. "Niall Organa. It's a pleasure to meet you."

"Jax, Jax Dolros" he said giving the man a firm handshake and a smile his voice had a smooth coruscanti accent "Nice to meet you as well."

One eyebrow went up at the accent. For his part, Niall had just the hint of a Coruscanti accent, but most of it was pure Alderaanian, and upper-class at that.

Niall nodded. "You did some good work here today, Jax." He said, nodding at the shovel. "I'm pretty sure that your trench is a bit deeper and wider than a lot of the others." His lips quirked. "But who's counting, right?"

Hamelin is continuing to help along with everyone else. He accepts some of the water and drinks it through a straw before he puts his respirator back in place. People may or may not have noticed by now that he has a bloodied patch on his robes.

Niall nodded. "You did some good work here today, Jax." He said, nodding at the shovel. "I'm pretty sure that your trench is a bit deeper and wider than a lot of the others." His lips quirked. "But who's counting, right?"

Jax's breath was a bit labored "Nah didn't do anything more than what was right. One has to help out where they can but thanks I'd say you did way more than I did, I need to work more on my strength training my arms are going to feel like noodles for the rest of the night." he said with a little smirk as he leaned on the shovel.

"I'm sure." Niall said, dryly amused. The blond man did appear to be in pretty good shape.

His eyebrows went up inquisitively. "Did I hear correctly earlier that you used to be in the military? Republic, or planetary?" With the accent, he'd guess former, but it could be the latter, of course.

Jax straightened his posture and gave a moc salute "Lieutenant Jackson Dolross republic navy reporting for duty sir." he said in a serious tone before a smile cracked his features and he relaxed his posture "I did about 5 years in the navy roughly 8 years ago. Some of the best years of my life if I'm being honest."

Cole, still marked with blood himself, spotted the stain and narrowed his eyes slightly. “I’m doctor Ormont, do you need assistance?”

"You back isn't straight" Azura said to Jax as she started packing up supplies.

She was clearly not happy, and didn't even glance at whoever Jax was talking to.

"neither is your attitude, gotta learn to see the good in these things." he called back to her as she packed equipment.

If less people were around... Azura smiled to herself, imagining Jax apologizing on his knees while she loomed over him with a shovel. what a lovely thought that was.
