[Day 2 - Mid Evening] Ancestors Guide Me

The zabrak people of Bankor were not somber they were passionate creatures and many were gathered to honor the four fallen fighters. They had cleaned up the corpses and places shawls on them and then surrounded them and began chanting as a group offering their souls to the ancestors and that they would drink of the sweet milk of glory at the side of other fallen warriors.

Some cried, many remebered… but despite the anger in the air, they sang

Cole, endlessly curious about other races, hovered near the edges of the group, trying not to intrude upon their grief.

The resistance leader was nearby, he didn’t know the songs… or maybe he had forgotten them. So he was solemn as he remembered his friends. He also did his best to keep tensions between his people and the Republic down… but there was only so much he could do.

Cole recalled Thazos from the previous evening, and he nodded solemnly to the zabrack, running a hand through his hair.

Ashla was there dressed in her Jedi robes. Jedi are peacemakers. She needed to find a way to help bring peace between the Republic and the Resistance. Sometimes, small gestures just help. She would mourn these men with their people. Was it their fault? Was it the Hutt's? It doesn't matter. The dead are dead. Mourn them and remember the good they have done in life.

Jax had found some more formal clothing a somber black shirt and slacks with some nicer shoes and as was tradition for his people's mourning dress a fine black cloak clung to his shoulders. He cut a rather handsome figure when he was cleaned up. The dead were no friends of his but he regretted their loss and to think it was the hutt that did this, one of their own. He shook his head in disgust.

He approached the leader of the resistance forces whom he had met with briefly the previous day. "This....this is a tragedy, I'm sorry for your people's loss." His tone was sincere and somber.

Thazos gave him a small nod.

“Good man, leaves a wife and two kids behind, well one kid and one on the way. He isn’t the first to die, not even the first man I have lost in my command, but this one cuts deep. Knew him since I could barely crawl… before I even got my first tuzim… hunt-knife,” he responded.

“His people are going to want red-vengeance.”

Jax nodded "no doubt, unfortunately I hear the mandos took it for them. That hutt deserved whatever he got for doing this." Disgust was thick in his voice, Jax had no problem with killing but this seemed senseless and that sort of thing had never flown with him.

"Gods this is not what we needed right now. Driving a wedge further between us."

“I heard his last words on communications line, he fought with the fury of his ancestors,” he replied.

“If that hutt wasn’t dead, I would have killed him myself.”

Rekara placed herself near Ashla. The two jedi padawan gave a strong peace sense in the place. A symbol of solemnity and mystical support. There was sadness in the big eyes of Rekara, even though she knew that death was part of life, part of the eternal cycle, becoming one with the Force, and even though the Zabrak was not someone she knew, she could still feel for the potential that had been lost, for the children that would grow without the paternal support.

"If the hutt wasn't dead, I'd bring you him to kill" Azura said, stepping out from behind Jax "Hutts think they're above the rules. They're the worst things in this universe."

A pause, before she added "ah yeah, sorry for your losses."

War never changes she thought, approaching the ceremony in her jedi robes but keeping some respectable distance.

Rav felt that he needed to be there. The Hutt had helped them to recover vital intel on the enemy, but something had been off about him - whether it had anything to do with the loss of these Zabrak or not he didn't know. Still, it felt like being here was the right thing to do.

His gaze was fixed on the graves and he had to restrain himself from howling in response to the singing. This was too much like Balmorra.

Tethys cuts a somber figure in her brown robes, a faintly grim expression on her dark features. This was exactly the sort of possibility her old Master had been concerned about.

The chanting of the mourners touches her senses, the Force in this crowd swirling with a turbulent mixture of sadness, love, and anger. She itches to try adding a soothing note, but she can't figure out whether it would be more appropriate to join in with the music or simply listen, so she picks the latter as the safer option.

She drifts quietly toward the cluster around Thazos Kin, wondering how the resistance leader is taking the loss.

Although she does not know their ways it seems that people join in the singing at their leisure as a way of supporting the community. It does not seem disrespectful… if she knows the words at least or repeats what she has heard.

She listens for a bit to pick up the words, then adds her voice to the chant. The tall Jedi has a surprisingly fine singing voice: a light, musical alto that adds a peaceful descant to the funeral song.

Following the example of Tethys, Rekara tries to continue the chanting of the Zabrak, since they do not seem to disapprove of the participation of the jedi. The Jedi also tried to remember if there was something else that she could do to honor the loss of the Zabrak one.

As the only representative of the Republic military currently present, Cole felt compelled to try and show some degree of condolence. He could carry the tune, but not discern the words. He decided it was wiser not to try faking it.

Late to the moment, Chase had wandered the empty streets nearby to the gathering for a while contemplating if she'd be better off just heading home. Kicking around a rock for a little while she remembered how far from home she really was for a moment before finally deciding to slip into the crowd. Walking amidst the Zabrak peoples celebrating their dead in military fatigues, rank of lieutenant obvious to fellow corpsmen.

Acclimating herself to the place she found a spot just off the side and looked inward, toward the central place where the bodies were gathered. Not even sure if she was more regretful that she'd never done something like this before, or that she didn't know if she needed to.

Thazos appreciated the turn out from the Republic and then approached the bodies and many of the refugees and resistance grew quiet, many knew the man and many had fought alongside or been aided by him.

He removed a knife from his boot, it looked worn as he placed his fist around the blade and dripped blood on the burial shawl of each of the dead. He then said, “Sorry I am not really good at speeches. I knew Yasim, pretty much all my life, more balls than brains he would say when talking about himself. He didn’t know fear, I mean he probably did but he never let him stop him.”

“He was like a brother, blood-kin, and I’m sure in his final moments he didn’t fear for himself, only those he was protecting. We quarreled, we laughed, and we fought together; we bled and we lived, and I was there when he met his wife Ulia, still surprised she married him. He was a good man, good brother, good father, and I am sure his ancestors have fed him the sweet milk.”

“We’ll carry on the fight, for all of them. We are the blood that has come before,” he finished and handed his bloody knife to Ulia and she nodded in understanding.

He nodded and then departed. There was silence and the songs continued.

As the leader of the Resistance parted, Rekara went after him, trying to catch up to him even though her steps were shorter and slower, trying not to seem to be running after him, but solemnly looking for a moment to talk.

"I am so sorry for such a great loss" She said as she was able to catch up. "The life of Yasim will not be forgotten, as the names of the other heroes and martyrs of this cruel occupation won't either." She allowed a solemn moment to pass by before continuing. "If I may, humbly, I would like to offer the humble services of my medical training to the warriors of the Resistance, another additional hand to their work, not as a part of the Republic, but as a fighter for peace and justice."

He paused and wrapped a cloth around his hand and then said, “We always welcome a helping hand, master Jedi. Gena, could always use the help, she’s about the closest thing we have to a doctor around here.”
