In some ways it was almost comical, the ironies between the conversation with Niall yesterday and the situation now. Luth was sitting out in the desert, in her environment armor, though the sandstorm had ended just before they got there - of course. Her gun was braced on a rocky outcropping that allowed concealment for her, as well, the barrel with a light coating of sand clinging to it. She would clean it after, but for now, it helped make sure there was no reflection, no warning of the man's impending death. She kept her mind calm and relied only on her own skills for the same reason.

She didn't want him dead. There was no animosity in this, just sadness. How much further would she lower herself, she wondered as she stared through the scope to where they knew her target would be, to protect people she loved? Her own safety was long past mattering. If the Ma- if Baras' servant beheaded her as soon as they were finished, it would almost be a relief.

Draagh was quiet as he played spotter for the sniper. He waited for her sign.

Perhaps two hundred meters, working her way around a small hovel and encampment was an older woman. She had once been a Jedi, a good one, well a decent one. She had been a Shadow and in her arrogance thought she could handle a simple Sith Lord… but he turned the tables on her and turned her into his puppet. That was a decade ago though, she had finally left that life… the Jedi, left it all behind for a simpler life.

She frowned as she dusted things off from the sand storm, black sand everywhere.

OOC: She is at Long range, unless Luth has Extreme range.

Luth looked through the scope out at the Jedi. She paused before giving the man with her the sign, noticing something about her. She has red hair, too... Why that gave her pause besides its rarity and similarity to her own she didn't know. She shook off the thought and lined up, signaling Draahg. Then she sighted one more time, holding her breath for a silent moment.

I'm sorry... She thought as she squeezed the trigger.

She had not drawn her blade in some time, but it came to her hand and the white-blue blade did what she could to reduce the damage though her shoulder still smoked from the blast!

The blast ricocheted and blasted the door, a young boy ran out surprised at the sounds. The Jedi frowned as she knew this was a fight she might not be able to win.

OOC: Reflect used, Quick Draw as an incidental. Reduced damage by 5 down to 7 with the Pierce 3, that goes through her soak, she takes 7 wounds. She is now Winded as well. Cool for Initiative. Triumph used to expose a child, this distracts the Jedi granting Luth a free upgrade on her next check. Jedi is Adversary 1 and has Melee Defense 1/Ranged Defense 2 and is at Long Range.

Luth narrowed her eyes. "A kid? She didn't say anything about a kid being involved in this... Damn."

“It matters not, the Master has spoken. The child dies, unfortunate, but it must be done,” Draagh replied.

“Finish her, I will handle the child. Or not...”

With blinding speed the Jedi leapt from the camp high into the air and then landed at the base of the dune... her injury was definitely slowing her down, still she cleared a great distance in one jump.

OOC: She is at Medium due to Winded she can't use the first dark side Pips. Action used for second jump. Jedi has ranged Defense 2 and Adversary 1.

The Jedi collapsed trying to bock the shot but unable to… Draagh rose to his feet. He looked at Luth and said, “It needs to be done.”

He started marching down the dune stopping to check the Jedi and then continuing on to the child who had run back inside the hovel.

OOC: She cannot reflect and she is now done, you beat her!

"It was not part of his command to me," she replied seriously. "Was this some sort of extra order you got? Because it wasn't kill everyone here for me. Just her."

[Dapper Dog]

He stopped and turned near the bottom of the dune and said, “It seems the most prudent course… we could just leave the child to the elements though I prefer to know all lose ends are dealt with.”

“We don’t have much choice in this matter, he has seen too much.”

"We're blocked by the outcropping, that's part of why I picked the position. All he would have seen is her get shot and then jump," she said, shaking her head. "There's no need for this."

[Dapper Dog]

Draagh looked in the direction and then back to her and started his way up the hill. He commented, “Unwise, but I have no desire for excessive savagery. I prefer to leave no loose ends but for now we play this as you wish.”

“If we are lucky the child will perish to the elements in due time. Shall we return to the ship?”

Luth nodded, letting out a breath she didn't know she was holding. She'd send out a rescue party tomorrow, maybe. Say she was scouting in the desert. "Yeah. Let's head."

[Dapper Dog]

When they get to the ship Draagh broke the silence, “Saving the child is unwise, your emotions betray you. I won’t stop you if you decide to look for the boy, but it will just be another tool in the Master’s arsenal.”

He took a seat and started prepping for lift off. He looked at her and said, “And yes, my butt does look in these pants, thank you.”

OOC: He sees her surface thoughts and emotions. Triumph used to form a sympathetic connection between the two in the Force. Let me know what you want to use the Threat for...

She took out her vapor cigarette and took a drag from it, the exhale tinging the air with the faint scent of cinnamon and cloves. "Giving him one more advantage is a matter of fractions at this point. He already has so many, he can basically do whatever he wants, especially with me," she replied without an overabundance of concern. She'd long ago resigned herself to the situation. "You're quite welcome. Though you seem to have nailed hotness as a general aesthetic."

Threat used to grant a significant advantage in the conversation.

He blushed slightly and said, “I shouldn’t have… felt your thoughts, I apologize for the invasion of privacy.”

He guided the craft into the air, “I see you detest your role for the Empire. Perhaps if you embraced it, things would be easier for you. I am sure he has teased letting you go, but I doubt it. The Master isn’t one to allow a useful tool to go to waste or sit idle.”

“I am sure you realize this though.”

She smirked a little at the blush. "Only apologizing once I've got you blushing. I see how it is," she teased with a chuckle, then looked out the window. "It's fine. I should be more careful with my thoughts anyway."

"Yeah... This was supposed to be the last, but I don't believe it for a second. I'm ready for that. As for the former part... I detest the threats more than anything. The rest... well, I'm really good at murdering strangers from a long way away. I don't think anyone's going to let me get away from doing that."

[Dapper Dog]

“Well it was well done, the Jedi did not stand much of a chance,” he said politely.

“Sith enjoy threats, they enjoy shows of power and violence. It is part of thir game of jockeying and betrayal and survival. If your enemies fear you they may refrain from exploiting your weaknesses for fear of your wrath.”

“Or so the conventional wisdom goes.”

She took another drag before putting the device away. "Interesting... It seems more like it ends up getting you killed when their hatred eventually outweighs their fear." She shrugged. "But I don't have any training either way, so my assessment doesn't mean a whole lot. What's your take on it?"

[Dapper Dog]

“My take is that much of Sith business is senseless violence and back biting. People want to posture and delve into their selfish nature instead of supporting the greater good of the Empire. If someone needs killing, kill them, but you can’t rule by fear and might alone,” he said calmly as he maneuvered into the clouds.

She nodded as she listened. "Yeah... I can agree with that. I sometimes worry about the Empire's longevity because of that."

[Dapper Dog]

“If the Emperor endures, the Empire will endure. That I have no doubt,” he said in reply.

“He is the one force that can make the Sith tow the line, all fear him…”

[Luth Khalan]

"True enough," she admitted, mulling things over in her head as she looked out on the clouds. "... Embrace it, huh?"

“Survival is more important than embracing it, we do what we must to survive,” he responded. “I find it amusing how often people forego their own survival so that they can appease their sense of morality. Understandable though. We all want to feel like the hero in our own lives.”
