[Nai'tiri Cadera]

Nai met the Captain's glance, and gave a brief shake of her head. No way she was carrying that guy when the others weren't lacking in bodies to do it. Using the phrase able-bodied seemed a bit too much.

The Captain should also be above such things, she thought. Oh well. At least she could continue the 'escort mission', just with a different group this time.

In any case, once the Resistance members had loaded their fellow onto a stretcher, it seemed the danger was over. And apparently the conversation as well.

As they walked, Niall altered his path, bringing him alongside the Chiss. "Thank you for your help. And your patience." He said, his voice as low as it could be to still be heard over the ambient noise. "May I know your name?"

[Nai'tiri Cadera]

"Nai'tiri Cadera. Crusaders."

A curt nod. "You understand and respect my people. Appriciated, Captain. Not many of the Republic do." She cast a look after the Resistance members carrying the piece of filth on a stretcher. "Even less here."

[Niall Organa]

"Not a lot of us understand your people." Niall said. "I've had the honor of working with a group in the Republic military. The Mandalorian Irregulars, led by Lieutenant Vera Ordo and myself. It's given me an opportunity not a lot of others have, and the appreciation for your culture came with that."

He gave her the slightest of smiles, his gaze on her as they walked. "But we can learn. I meant it when I said that we won't disrespect your people like this again. I intend to bring the issue up at the Republic staff meeting tonight.

She raised an eyebrow. "Explains where you learned Mando'a," a few nods. "Ordo are good fighters. Been some years since I last saw Vera or Thera..."

Nai adjusted the straps of her rifle for a more comfortable fit. "Good we have someone to speak on it. Might go over better with the rest of yours if you say it, rather than if Kyr'ad say it."

[Niall Organa]

"I'll make sure to bring it up." Niall promised, giving her a firm nod.

His expression, while still serious, brightened. "Oh, you know Vera and Thera? Old friends? I hope?" The last was a little doubtful. It would be awkward if she and Vera hated each other. He cleared his throat. "I can speak to the formidable nature of Clan Cadera, too. Chet Cadera is one of the best soldiers in the unit."

"Not very well, but I know them. Friends is a stretch, but nothing against eachother."

She smirked slightly at the mention of Chet. "Good to hear. He's a good shot. Almost as good as me." Judging by her tone, there was maybe a friendly rivalry there.

[Niall Organa]

Niall's lips quirked at that, almost becoming an actual smile. "Almost as good as you? He's the best sharpshooter in the unit."

He regarded her a few moments, his lips pursed thoughtfully. "I don't doubt your word, of course. But if you're a better shooter than him, I daresay I'd almost have to see it to believe it. Chet is very, very good, after all."

"There will be chances. It is a battlefield." She said confidently. "Unless it is a challenge?"

[Niall Organa]

"Could be." Niall said. The smile was definitely there, now. "A friendly one, of course."

He cleared his throat. "Forgive me, but while I speak the language, there are still many gaps in my education. Can I issue a friendly challenge on behalf of one of the soldiers in my unit?"

[Nai'tiri Cadera]

"On behalf?" Nai gave him a brief look of confusion, as she had thought he would challenge to see firsthand her skills. "Who and why? Why not yourself?"

[Niall Organa]

"To a marksmanship contest?" Niall said doubtfully. But after a moment, his lips pursed, his expression thoughtful.

After a few moments, he drew his blaster, holding it carefully. He turned it in his hand, holding it by the body rather than the handle. It was an X-30 Lancer, known for accuracy at long range. It had also clearly undergone a few modifications.

He held it out, showing it to her. "This is my weapon of choice. I was trained on blaster pistols. And while it has an impressive range for its type, it can't quite match the distance of a rifle." His lips quirked. "But... perhaps we could find something at its maximum rated distance?"

"Pistols," she chuckled. Not that she didn't have a heavy blaster pistol strapped to her hip, but it was just the idea that it was a weapon of choice. "In war? You need tougher stuff to take down a Mando."

Her lips pursed for a moment in thought. "Could do, sure, but you didn't say who you wanted to volunteer earlier."

[Niall Organa]

The stretcher had almost reached the camp. Niall paused a moment to direct the group towards the entrance, flashing his credentials as they drew closer. "I had thought to pit Chet Cadera against you. Sharpshooter against sharpshooter. I gather that's what you are." He nodded towards her rifle, the scope on it obvious.

He gave her another quirk of a smile. "Of course, I'm becoming rather tempted to show you what I can do with my pistol It packs more of a punch than it looks like it does. The bolts are modified for extra penetration. It hits as hard as a blaster rifle, and without the range fallout common to other pistols."

[Nai'tiri Cadera]

"Chet knows how to make his own challenges," she smirked. It was just bad form to do it on behalf of a fellow Mando. "Rather see if this is as powerful as you say."

Nai didn't seem to care too much about the details of showing credentials. The Captain was handling it for now anyway.

[Niall Organa]

Niall smiled. "Very good, then. Perhaps tomorrow?"

He raised a single eyebrow. "Just a friendly challenge, mind. A chance for each of us to see what the other can do." His lips quirked. "Not that I'll be doing anything besides trying to win, of course. That's only right."

[Nai'tiri Cadera]

"Afraid I will shoot you, captain?" Nai asked in an amused tone.

[Niall Organa]

"Not particularly." Niall said, matching the amusement in her tone. "I'd hate to be wrong about that, though."

The bustle of the camp proceeded around them. Niall gave her another nod. "So, what do you say? Weather and enemy permitting, of course." His lips quirked. "Perhaps we'll end up in the same firefight tomorrow, and that will settle the issue."

"That is a possibility," she nodded. "Tomorrow then. You can have my contract info. Hopefully the senator don't need me for something then."

Nai took out her commlink to swap info.

[Niall Organa]

Niall pulled out his own commlink for the exchange of information, but her comment drew his attention. He gave her a curious look.

"Senator? Which senator are you referring to, if you don't mind my asking?" He frowned thoughtfully. He hadn't expected that she's be working for one of the senators.

[Nai'tiri Cadera]

"Senator Mixo of Pantora. Arrived today on the Turtle with the rest of the crew."

She shrugged casually. "Don't work for him as such, but if a crew never need me, I'm there."

[Niall Organa]

Niall pursed his lips a few moments. "Senator Durasay Mixo. We've met, actually. And I'm at least familiar with the other members of the Turtle's crew." It wasn't clear how he felt about that.

He gave her another curious glance. "I would have remembered you." He said, grey eyes narrowing thoughtfully. "You're a new addition to the crew, I take it?"

"You could say that," she confirmed with a nod as their contact info was exchanged.

"How do you know them?"

As they neared the medical facilities, Niall flashed his clearance once more, allowing the Resistance members inside. He didn't follow them, instead waiting with Nai'tiri, and gathering his thoughts.

After a few moment, he turned to her, still frowning. "Almost two years ago, I was on a mission on Nar Shaddaa. Or rather, a space station not far from Nar Shaddaa. It was a dangerous mission, with three teams operating together. I led one, made up of Republic personnel and Vera. The others were neutral parties. Crew from the Turtle were on the other two teams." His lips pressed more firmly together. "Some things went poorly." He stopped there, uncertain.

Nai lowered her eyes as she adopted a thoughtful look, arms crossed casually as she brought a hand up to her chin. She knew there was something that had happened back then that Craw didn't like to talk about... something that Durasay had done or said. That much she had pieced together. Even she noticed the tension between the two.

"I see," she said, still thoughtful. "Before my time. None of them talk of it to me."
